It's been three months since everyone under the age of fifteen became trapped in the bubble known as the FAYZ.

Three months since all the adults disappeared. GONE.

Food ran out weeks ago. Everyone is starving, but no one wants to figure out a solution. And each day, more and more kids are evolving, developing supernatural abilities that set them apart from the kids without powers. Tension rises and chaos is descending upon the town. It's the normal kids against the mutants. Each kid is out for himself, and even the good ones turn murderous.

But a larger problem looms. The Darkness, a sinister creature that has lived buried deep in the hills, begins calling to some of the teens in the FAYZ. Calling to them, guiding them, manipulating them.

The Darkness has awakened. And it is hungry.

I'm going to have to pause starting this for a while so I have time to read The Young Elites, which is due back at the library in a few days. It'll be a push trying to get it done, but I'm going to try. So I'm holding off reading this one for a while, and then I have to finish another few buddy reads before starting this one. I'm sorry!

Just letting you know I'm probably starting this either tomorrow or the next day. FINALLY!

And the craziness starts XD I'll be starting this one today. By the way, I'm going to just try and keep up with you, so when I catch up to your latest update I'm going to move onto another book until I'm up to date with that and then move back :p Crazy and interesting, I know, but let's see how I go. I have way too many books booked this month.

I can't really remember all of the niggly things that happened in Gone XD How did it end?

I've read this one before, and this is just about the only thing I remember. Can't believe it happened right at the start though!

I think it was the fight between the private school kids and the town kids. Some of the kids swapped sides and Caine ended up in a coma.

I have just finished Chapter 15 (view spoiler)[ So far the worms seem to be wide spread as they are in the Cantaloup garden. Duck has discovered he has a power. There seems to be plenty of fish but I don't know how long that will last there is bound to be a new creature in there to stop them fishing. (hide spoiler)]

I can't do lots as I read while driving so it will be in big chunks. I'm trying to read multiple books as I drive around so that I can update more often over a longer period.

I do want to read the whole series but it won't be this month as I have far to many books to read.
I'm going to read a little now but I doubt I will read it all today as I have about 7 books of the go at the moment.

Alright so I've got another little chunk to read. Hoping to catch up today.

Ok so I ended up finishing it as I was pretty much over the book and wanted it out of the way. (view spoiler)[I found the whole thing totally unrealistic. If that was to happen I seriously doubt that the children would behave like such little monsters. At one point one of the kids had not eaten for 21 hours and was so hungry he/she was considering Cannibalism, seriously kids do the 24 hour famine every year and don't think about chopping up their parents and eating them. Some of the kids are just way to brilliant about so many things, that I can't imagine they have ever even studied let alone know the out come if you tamper with them. (hide spoiler)]

You know what? I love that Michael Grant jumps right into this and hits us with something crazy off-rip. (view spoiler)[ E.Z. getting devoured by the worms was so sad because ole boy was just tryna pick cabbages and vibe. Also, Duck had me shooketh. I shouldn't be surprised by everything happening because I read this book in 2010, but it is 14 years later, so I feel like this is a brand new read for me as I have distant memories of this series. I was thinking this as well, and the fact that he truly does feel bad about killing Bette so is an additional reason that is pushing him towards self-medicating with alcohol.

good example of how mobs are created, you take something from them (food here) and they do whatever they need to get it, even killing someone they used to be friends with.

Yes, and how quickly lines can be drawn between friends out of pure jealousy. Because Zil was so quick to turn on Hunter when he didn't develop powers. I wonder how Zil would have turned out if he had powers. Zil seems like one who resents those around him who would be seen as "better" or "cooler"
