Barbara Tsipouras | 9 comments A story told from different POVs is like looking on the life of others from the outside. This can be very interesting.

But it's much easier to relate with a character when the story is told from one POV, because it reflects real life in a more realistic way.

When you meet somebody (to stay with romance) you don't know what he or she thinks and feels. You only know what they tell and show you. You have no idea what they do when you're not around, what their goals are, how they see you.

Laurel Heidtman (kylaurel) | 2 comments In the romance genre, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the hero and heroine are going to end up together so I don't think changing the POV hurts the story in most cases. It's kind of like when you are friends with two people who are just starting to fall for one another and they both confide in you. Who doesn't enjoy that kind of voyeurism!

Books that contain love stories that don't work out fall, I think, into an entirely different category than romance...general fiction, women's fiction, literary fiction...something other than simply romance.
