The Little Android discussion

I just finished The little android, and I'm quite frustrated because I'm not really sure I understood the end.
Because English is not my mother tongue I don't know if it's because of that or because I forgot something about the universe of Cinder that explains everything.
I'm going to put the question under spoilers in case someone has not read it yet:

(view spoiler)[ I get that Mech6.0 and Miko switched their place for Miko to stay with Dataran. But that's the how I don't get, if Miko is an adroid, she is still human, so how could they exchange their body? Can her ID chip be used to switch bodies? Did she take Mech6.O body? (hide spoiler)]

I just re-read the ending and I've only now noticed that they switched places. Now I'm confused too.

They didn't switch bodies, she was just in disguise.... lol guys! If they had switched bodies, then Star wouldn't have been in pain. PS. Androids have various updates where they can change eye color, designs etc.

I think the point is that Mech6.0 loved Dartaran so much that she wanted him to be happy so she switched places with Miko. While in space, Mech6.0's battery ran out of power - she died, basically.

I got the ending, but wasn't sure how this is a Little Mermaid retelling. The whole point of the Little Mermaid is that she loves a guy from far away and they end up together even though she is a creature of the sea, this story sort of develops an entire new story.

In the original Little Mermaid, they do not end up together. The mermaid dies and the prince ends up with someone else.

I am a year late but yea thats correct. In the original she is broken hearted and turns into sea foam

In the original Hans Christian Anderson "The Little Mermaid" She has the choice to either stab the prince with a special knife and turn back into a mermaid, or die (turn into sea foam).
