Hello!

I've been gone from the group for a while but I'm back now with new inspiration for weekly questions. Here's this week's question:

What is your favorite book of all time?

message 2: by André (new)

André Polónia I have some favorite books but since most of them are well known I will say

blindness by José Saramago (literature nobel prize and portuguese)

Wow, that's a simple question with a hard answer. My favorites are always changing as I read more and more. I usually say The Lord of the Rings and anything by Terry Pratchett. I think I'll be adding Warm Bodies to that list as well. The problem is that if you ask me in 6 months time I might say something different.
Ah, the heart is fickle and the to-read list never ending.

Alison G. (agriff22) | 543 comments my favorites are always changing but so far as far as a series goes its gotta be the Millennium series and individual book I always go back to To Kill a Mockingbird.

message 5: by Karen (new)

Karen (karinlib) Having a favorite book is a little like having a favorite child.

For me a favorite book changes as I grow older.

But, if push came to shove, I would agree with Alison. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is my favorite book, and a favorite movie.

message 6: by Ruthanne (new)

Ruthanne Johnston | 9 comments I agree with Karen re favorite books being like favorite children...because ee become attached, find them unforgettable and they play on our emotions. 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD, both book and movie, still do those things for me.

message 7: by Emily (new)

Emily Tough question. I have a small collection of books that I consider my "favorites" - and I agree with other posters that To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely one of them - but if I had to pick only one favorite it would be...

*dramatic drum roll*

The Giver

I first read it when I was 9 or 10 years old, and I've since read it more times than I can count. Every few years I pick it up again.

message 8: by Karen (new)

Karen (karinlib) @Ruthanne, I loved 84 Charing Cross Road as well.

Choosing ONE favorite book of all time is just impossible. But one of my favorite books of all times is The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. The language and writing are exquisitely beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking at the same time. I recommend this book to anyone who just wants to read a really great book. It made me laugh and cry and thought it's been years since I read it, the story is still vivid in my mind.

The other book that is a favorite that I recommend to anyone who asks me for a book recommendation is Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It's simply fantastic.

Inaara (candy4ever) | 103 comments As of right now, my favourite YA books is Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys,

Karen (karinlib) @Inaara, I really liked Between Shades of Gray too.

Sooz while my list of favourite novels contains numerous titles there is only one favourite that i think is brilliant (and critics seem to agree) ...so it wins hands down .... and that is 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez

message 13: by Lex Brisalyn (new)

Lex Brisalyn | 4 comments Charlotte's Web will always be my favorite book of all time!

message 14: by Alex (new)

Alex (nogoodbooks) | 75 comments I used to say The Lord of the Rings or The Jungle. These days, I'm more likely to say that I don't have one. The honest answer is that my favorite book is usually whatever I'm reading at the moment.
