Well, as yet, I have only read two books by Nicholas Sparks:
--The Choice
--The Rescue
...and while both had some depressing moments but they ended with a happily ever after :-)
My Rating for both the books: 3 STARS= Good= Quite Enjoyable= I liked them...!

Well yes, someone died in "The Rescue" too ...which did depress me a lot. Even "The Choice" got pretty depressing at some point. I also don't prefer books that make me feel sad to such an extent, especially when the same message could easily be provided in a happier way. This is one of the reasons why this author is not included in my list of favourites. Still, there were some good moments in both the stories and the endings were happy ...hence, my 3 STARS rating!

Seems like a good idea! :-)

I do generally like Nicholas Sparks, but I don't always need a "happily ever after"... although I prefer it. And, I'm on the fence about The Notebook. I liked it, but it wasn't really a "happy ending". Well, sort of. But not really. Ish.
