Hey tENT! Thanks.. you describe the problem I'm having fairly accurately. When I click on the "new topic" I do get a window. & I have no problems opening a thread & reading all of the comments posted beneath any of these. However, what you described as happening when you click the "comment" button-- a window opening up-- that's not happening for me-- all I get is the appearance of a little blue line that runs from the same "comment" button to the "flag abuse button." Clicking again only causes that line to disappear. I'm using Safari too, so that's probably not the problem. I also tried using Netscape but that had no effect on the difficulty. I've emailed Goodreads with a description of the trouble I'm having, but according to their message system I'll have to wait a few days for a response.

All of the other aspects of the system seem to work fine.

Until I receive a response from the Goodreads techies, I'll continue to post under "create a new topic." My apologies for the messiness of this strategy-- but some of the threads are too compelling for me to ignore w/out comment-- even if they do appear in the "no comment" folder!

As for my health, well, a friend just told me that a 21 yr old girl just died in the ER from pneumonia. etta thinks I was just lucky to've not died last wknd - she's pissed b/c I refused to go to the ER. Truth be told, I feel better (wch ain't hard considering that last wknd I was close to comatose) but I've got a long way to go - like wks? - before I'm truly better. Pneumonia seems to be after me. I mean, what did I ever do to it?!

Also, sorry to've not responded more to what you've written. I'm astounded, in retrospect that I even managed to crank out the "Class Warfare in Culture" bit. I shd write a whole bk on the subject - along w/ 10 zillion other things. I guess pneumonia will just have to wait! I'm too busy, as usual, to die.
