I definitely got the feeling that this whole forest-passing was to show us that the Dappled woman is there along with him. He got so sick of the burned wood smell, and the damaging of the forest got to him more than we could expect.
that makes me wonder what is going to happen if he ever has to fight a Speck.

I adored Epiny. Fabulous girl. Just by that introduction, I have high expectations of her. Hobb seems to love feisty girls!

ch9-10 - must be quite sickening for the father to see who is in charge of his dear Cavalla academy. looks like maybe all cadets are in for a rough time, but the new noble sons even more so.
anyone else has the image of miniquarters on the fourth floor, while the old noble sons have suites? yes i know, that sounds unrealistic :)
i liked the introduction of the group, some rotten apples, but especially Gord and Spink are promising friends for life.
