Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 469 comments It is a fantastic book. I thought Rysa was not going to market it as a YA book, or does that happen automatically when the characters are YA themselves?

I think it was inevitable. It fits the mold of YA. Besides, that's a huge market these days, so I would imagine her publisher pushed her into it even if that wasn't her original intention when she began to write it. After all, it's got the whole young love triangle thing going for it.

Rysa Walker (rysawalker) | 86 comments Thanks, Amy! The past few months have been crazy buzy with writing the sequel and a novella, but this popped up on my Google watch and I wanted to stop in and say hello! To answer Heather's question, if your protagonist is under age 18, it's usually marketed as YA, but Skyscape (which is Amazon Publishing's young adult imprint) was hoping we'd have some crossover success with the adult market as well, so it's in the sci-fi group, too. I think most of my readers so far have been adults, although a lot of them are grownups who usually read YA--a lot of 20-30 year olds in the mix. There have been a few hard sci-fi fans who stumbled upon it and grumbled in reviews that it's a "kid's book" but not too many, so I'm pretty happy with their marketing to date.

Jennifer Rubenstein | 7 comments I was about 30 pages into it (and completely hooked) before I realized it was YA.
