Library Week and National Librarian Day - A Custom-Fit Crime by Melissa Bourbon 4/10/14
April 12 is International Tom Hanks Day - The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
April 14 is International Moment of Laughter Day -
April 17 is Pet Owners Independence Day -
April 26 is Hug an Australian Day - The Danger Down Under

I've got to check for an Australia book and I don't have any library books out at the moment. But I did buy for the first time, an official Int. Tom Hanks day tshirt that all proceeds will go to his favorite charity.

I recently read Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood which was pretty good (set in Melbourne). I also liked Greenwood's other series with the baker -- the name escapes me at the moment.
And I love the Napoleon Bonaparte series by Arthur W. Upfield, although they aren't really cozies as the main character is a police officer (but they are not police procedurals either!).

National Librarian Day - Death of a Winter Shaker by Deborah Woodworth
International Tom Hanks Day - The Green Mile by Stephen King
International Moment of Laughter Day - Dying to Decorate by Cyndy Salzmann
Pet Owners Independence Day - Out of Circulation by Miranda James
Hug an Australian Day - Tiger Mine by Angela Castle

Completed : 3/3
First Week of April is Library Week and April 16 is National Librarian Day - Easy, read a library book. If you don't have access to a library, read a book borrowed from a friend.

April 12 is International Tom Hanks Day - Read a book that one of his movies is based on, anything written by him or about him. The day named after him raises money for Tom's favorite charity http://lifelineenergy.org/. They provide "Technology Solutions for Off-Grid Learning", mostly in sub-sahara Africa. So if you can't find anything else to read to fit this category, read a book set in or about Africa.
April 14 is International Moment of Laughter Day - Read a book that makes you laugh.

April 17 is Pet Owners Independence Day - Read a book where a pet plays a prominate role, or is mentioned in the title.

April 26 is Hug an Australian Day - Read a book either set in Australia or written by an Australian Author (either born there or currently living there). BONUS: Hug an Australian :)

Thanks for the tip on [book:Cocaine Blues. I probably wasn't going to take the time to try and find a book for the Australian challenge but I have this one on my kindle, so now have a push to read it.

So...even though it hasn't been made into a movie yet, do you all think The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown would count? IMDB lists it as "announced" under Hanks' credits, but there is no year or further information on it. I still have that one on loan from my sister.
I also saw that Olive Kitteridge is to be an HBO series in 2015 (Tom Hanks is producer). I don't have that one, but keep seeing copies at the Library Sale, which is tomorrow.

Go for it Heather. It definetly fits for him and sounds like it will be made into a movie in the future.
If Tom Hanks is involved at all, producer, actor, director, etc. it will count. My husband has a book I got him, Band of Brothers, that Tom turned into an HBO mini-series. I've read Forrest Gump and Angels and Demons. (I haven't read Da Vinci code yet.) I have the book by Jim Lovell that Apollo 13 is based on. This is just some of what comes to mind. I know there is so so much more. His credit list is huge.

Leslie: You're welcome! It's incentive for me to finally read and return this one to my sister. I read and saw both The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons years ago. ☺

Oh, I have a copy of this! :-)

Thanks, Donna! I didn't even think of The Polar Express

The Polar Express would be a MUCH quicker read! lol
Oh, btw... I've only read two books where I thought the movie was better... Forrest Gump and Jaws.

Celebrate the Library: Blood Sport by Dick Francis
Tom Hanks: I've read DaVinci Code in the past. I'll have to borrow Lost Symbol from the library.
Laughter and Pet Owners is going to be the same book: The Sound and the Furry by Spencer Quinn. I hardly ever laugh out loud but this book tickled me.
Hug an Australia day: I have a half-Aussie friend, so I'll find her, but I own Steve and Me, about Steve Irwin. Not a mystery, though.

I think I'll post my comments today because I haven't been in a cozy mood lately, so this month I think I only have two books.
Congrats, Linda!
Marisa~ Sorry you've had a rough month. (((hugs)))

Heather, thank you but not really a rough month but a romance mood (it hits me form time to time ;) )

Marisa ~ Ahh. You do recall the books for mini challenges can be for any genre, right? ☺
Leslie ~ So sorry for your loss. (((hugs)))
Becky ~ Yes, there will be a May challenge, look for it the first few days of the month. It doesn't always get posted the first day, but soon after at very least. Books for mini challenges can be from any genre, and can be used towards other challenges (for example, the "spring" challenge or "Read the USA" challenge). You cannot use the same book for multiple mini challenges, though.

OK so just so that I'm clear - can i use the same book for the read the season challenge & the May (or whatever month) challenge or is the season considered a mini challenge too?
LOL sorry for all the questions! I'm so anal :P
As I mentioned in my "for example" - you can apply a book read for a monthly mini-challenge for the spring challenge. You're just not supposed to use the same book for two mini-challenges in the same month (there are usually five mini-challenges per month). ;)

Hugging an Australian is probably the only part of this month's challenge I was able to complete, lol! (DH is Aussie)

Lucky you! LOL

Just remember that it's all in fun, you don't have to do them all (there have been months I didn't have books that fit a specific challenge), they can be from any genre, and you can apply them to other challenges. On the up side, it definitely gets you reshuffling your TBR pile. Which for some of us is a GOOD thing. ☺

Yes. Something needs to motivate me to make a dent in my pile & I love the challenges because they help me decide what to read next.

I had at least 3 books but only read the one...I did find a freebie for the Aussie book and was going to read The Lost Symbol. I will still read the books, just won't be in April! LOL

First Week of April is Library Week: Aunt Dimity: Detective by Nancy Atherton
April 14 is International Moment of Laughter Day - Read a book that makes you laugh: Arabella by Georgette Heyer
Well, that's a little misleading -- I would have expected the Aunt Dimity to take place in Australia, too. Read Arabella last year and loved it. I have a few more of Heyer's, both romance and mystery, in Mount TBR.

Library week - The Whole Enchilada by Diane Mott Davidson
Tom Hanks Day -
Laughter - Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble by Ann B. Ross
Pet Owner - Absolutely, Positively by Heather Webber
Austrailian Day - Heavenly Pleasures by Kerry Greenwood
Author - Leslie Meier - Easter Bunny Murder
