How many of these 50 Books To Read Before You Die have you read? Are any on your to-read list? http://www.listchallenges.com/50-book...

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments 20 - but have read at least part of 3 others (The Bible, The Canterbury Tales and The Divine Comedy) and quite a few of the others are on my TBR list.

message 5: by A (new)

A H have read 10 of them...and have most of them in my TBR.

message 6: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments I have read 12. I think I have 9 or 10 on my tbr list (or at least they are suppose to be) and a few I wouldn't mind adding.

message 7: by Rob (new)

Rob | 162 comments I have read 13 of them and a couple are currently in my tbr pile.

message 8: by Mayme (new)

Mayme (theladymaym) | 104 comments I've read 11 and have 11 more on my TBR (:

message 9: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments Have read 16, but good ideas for the TBR pile.

message 10: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I've read a few of them too.

message 11: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) I've read 11, but I thought some of the choices were a bit iffy. I enjoyed Harry Potter, but I really don't think it qualifies for a list of books I must read before I die.

message 12: by Jude (new)

Jude Grindvoll I've read 22 but will never reach fifty since some of the choices are really silly. I'm sure I can live without Wind in the Willows before I pop my clogs!

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy (amylw1) | 25 comments i have read 14

message 14: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Surprisingly (I'm not much of a Classics reader), I've read 17 in full and another 5 in part. I also have 13 more on my TBR.

Kassandra | -1 comments "Iasa wrote: I've read 39"

That's amazing Iasa!

message 16: by Irene (new)

Irene (zavrou) I have read 26, may read four or five more but there are some I would not even consider.

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 85 comments I've read 19, and parts of others, a lot are on my TBR.

message 18: by ♞ Pat (new)

♞ Pat Gent 30. I think I've read all of them that i intend to, but I may - MAY - end up reading Catcher In The Rye before I die. I'm just not all that sure I want to. Too much bad press with that one.

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather | 97 comments 15 and most of the others are on my TBR list

message 20: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments Only 9 of them; A few more of those I've started but ended up not finishing. And there are even more that are on my to reads list.

message 21: by Susan (new)

Susan (suzybop) | 90 comments A disappointing 6. I can't admit to reading the whole Bible. I started Catcher in the Rye in school and took such an aversion to it within the first pages I gave up on it, praying each day my teacher wouldn't ask me any questions about it. Maybe now that I'm a few years down the line I'll give it another go.

Actually, I'd put that one on my life-is-too-short-and-I-wish-I-hadn't-wasted-time-on-these-books list. ;)

I've read 32 of them, and a bunch of the others are on my to-read list. Especially Grapes of Wrath and Ulysses, which I hope to read this year.

message 24: by Judy (new)

Judy | 30 comments 7, plus currently reading #8

Brenda (aka Grandma) | 278 comments 18. I see a few more I'd like to try. Well, one is easy: I've been saving the rest of the Harry Potter series like emergency chocolate. Not that I actually save emergency chocolate, but you get the idea.

message 26: by Sarah. B (new)

Sarah. B I`ve read 13 of them. Lots on my TBR shelf. Am waiting for my library to get in a copy of The Grapes of Wrath. Have been wanting to read it for AGES

message 27: by Amy (new)

Amy | 106 comments 7. But some of the best books I've ever read aren't on the list, so I'm not too bothered.

16. I actually own the bookmark, I got it for Christmas! :D

I really need to get round to reading more from that list...

message 29: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments Well, I read the Great Gatsby now, so now I'm at 10.

message 30: by Clare (new)

Clare | 34 comments I've read 14 and some of the others are on my TBR

message 31: by Aitziber (new)

Aitziber 20, but I've read bits and pieces of a good bunch. Actually, let me break it down . . .

Read in full: 20
Read bits: 4
On TBR list: 17
Not interested: 8

Apparently one got lost in the shuffle. :P

message 32: by Aitziber (new)

Aitziber For those thinking about Catcher in the Rye, I wouldn't bother if you're past your teen years. It's really hard to sympathize with Holden once you're past a certain age. If you want to try Salinger, Franny and Zooey will be more enjoyable. :)

I always find it funny when people say that, because I wouldn't have related to it in my teens either. :P

That's fair, although I would still recommend Franny and Zooey. Personally, I have the same issue with Wuthering Heights. I feel like I was too old (17-18) when I read it, and I would've been more taken with that portrait of love, so torturous and omg-so-wrong-it's-right, if I'd been younger.

message 35: by James (new)

James (jimmyconnors) I've read 11 and started several (like, for example, The Bible ...) and I've seen film adaptations of some. Btw. I've read one or two of the Harry Potter series, too. Does that count as read? If not (i.e. you have to read all of them), this is definitely one of the books from this list I won't read.

message 36: by Sarah. B (new)

Sarah. B I`ve read 14 so far

message 37: by Richard (new)

Richard LeComte | 18 comments I've read 19.

message 38: by Just_me (new)

message 39: by Karen (new)

Karen | 289 comments I have read 9, plus both the Bible and Canterbury Tales in part and Huck Finn and Gulliver's Travels in abridged/adapted form. Many more on my TBR list and a few I'm not interested in.

Leianne (bookybookworm1895) | 12 comments I have read 12 but most of them are on my TBR list :)

I'm taking credit for The Bible and Canterbury Tales because I've read most of both. I need to go back and check it out again because there was one title I'd never even heard if before!

Also Don Quixote, because I'm reading it now and halfway finished.

Unknown Title: Men Without Women by Hemingway. Seriously???

message 48: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I've read 10, but have also read some first books in a series, part of the bible, part of Brave New World etc.

message 49: by Evangeline (new)
