Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I enjoy reading trilogies.

Sometimes a stand-alone is just too short (I want to read about other characters and so on), but a series can lose its momentum quickly (especially, if not done well), but a trilogy (3 books) can be just the right length.

I would like to hear suggestions of favorite trilogies, most especially in the romance genre, and compile a comprehensive list in this thread.

Be sure to mention what sub-genre it belongs to.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) NOTE: I have NOT read all of these. lol Just listing them.

Most of Debbie Macomber's series are longer than 3 books. She has some that are (or close to) Trilogy's. Her books are contemporary romances.

Her Dakota trilogy was great, but she eventually added a 4th book to it due to popular request.
Dakota Born
Dakota Home
Always Dakota
and later Buffalo Valley

- Deliverance Company Series
Someday Soon
Sooner or Later
Moon Over Water

Legendary Lovers has 3 stories in it: Cindy and the Prince, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Almost Paradise. All rewritten fairytales.

Orchard Valley also has three stories in it, one for each sister?: Norah, Stephanie, Valerie.

There are 3 volumes reissued in her Midnight Sons series but each has 2 novels for a total of 6. Same with her Those Manning Men reissued 3 volumes, each with 2 novels in them for another total of 6.

Nora Roberts is the Queen of the trilogies having written at least 11 of them. She has more series with just 2 books to them, 4, or some have 5-6 or more (one has 11). These are all romance books with HEA endings but some are suspenseful romances, some are slightly paranormal. I'm not sure which series each falls into. Books listed in order in the series:

Circle Trilogy: Morgan's Cross, Dance of the God's, Valley of Silence

In the Garden Trilogy: Blue Dahlia, Black Rose, Red Lily

Key Trilogy: Key of Light, Key of Valor, Key of Knowledge

Three Sisters Island Trilogy: Dance Upon the Air, Heaven and Earth, Face the Fire

The Irish Trilogy: Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, Heart of the Sea

Dream Trilogy: Daring to Dream, Holding the Dream, Finding the Dream

The Stars of Mithra: Hidden Star, Captive Star, Secret Star

Concannon Sisters: Born in Fire, Born in Ice, Born in Shame

Loving Jack: Loving Jack, Best Laid Plans, Lawless

Irish Hearts: Irish Thoroughbred, Irish Rose, Irish Rebel

Sign of Seven: Blood Brothers, The Hollow, The Pagan Stone (most paranormal of her series)

Fern Michaels contemporary romance

Kentucky: Kentucky Rich, Kentucky Heat, Kentucky Sunrise

Connie Brockway historical romance

McClairen's Isle: The Ravishing One, The Reckless One, The Passionate One

Catherine Coulter historical romance

Magic Trilogy: Midsummer Magic, Calypso Magic, Moonspun Magic

The Legacy: The Wyndham Legacy, The Nightingale Legacy, The Valentine Legacy

The Night Trilogy: Night Fire, Night Shadow, Night Storm

(trilogy but no series title per authors website) The Wild Baron, The Offer, The Deception

*whew* lol
I have almost all of these (except 2 books I'm missing), but the only one I've read so far is the Dakota series.
