Did I miss something on Chaz? Why is he driving a Ferrari?

I think his family had money

Chaz comes from old family money. Old family money sometimes makes it a tradition to "serve the public" when they don't need a job to survive. Hence, you'll read about a lot of female characters who are rich dowagers. They don't work for a living, but sometimes put their efforts into community service.

One example, the Kennedy family. Money and a long history of both politics and public service. I don't view those as one and the same, especially these days.

Not only does his family have money, I thought it was implied that he was friends with or at least an acquaintance of Win, the multi-millionaire investor from Coben's Myron Bolitar series. He lives in Win's building, which is a high rent piece of real estate.

Yeah, the narrator said that Chaz was from a family whose male members generally went into public service (either police or military) so they could later run for political office as someone who understands and believes in public service.

I totally missed that. Thanks. It drove me crazy the whole book!
