Thoughts on chapters 1 through 15 of Side Effects May Vary? How does everyone feel about the "then and now" writing style?

Not sure if I'm liking Alice at this point. I'm assuming she's supposed to be an anti-hero but there's usually small aspects of those types of protagonists I like.
Who knows? Maybe she'll go through some fabulous character development soon and change

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but I don't think she will. She has good parts that I like, but other than those, she is a little too annoying. Also, I didn't really like Harvey either.

Yeah, there is that too. Either he doesn't give himself enough credit or blames something else like his hormones. I want to shake him up for a good long while and shout, "Man up and own your shit!" to his ear. Gee.

i REALLY do not like Alice. I get that she is going through a hard time, but that is no excuse for treating the people she loves like crap. The way she acts around her parents! It's like they don't even matter to her!

It's like they don't..." I totally agree with you! She's acting a bit like Hazel did from TFIOS but to the extreme. At least Hazel recognized that what her parents did for her was to help her get better.
Maybe her character development will show a change

I agree too! I feel like just because her moms living a lie gives her an excuse to treat her badly No, Alice it doesn't. Also not loving what she did to Harvey, hinting that you love someone just because your "going to die" isn't a very good excuse

I'm not sure how I feel about this book yet. I enjoy the writing style, but I'm not a big fan of the characters. I don't hate them, but I don't love them either.

The whole then and now chapters kind of bother me just because I want to hear more about the things on her list. But I guess that's what I'll get in the next part of the book.

This book is pretty good so far, but I'm still not sure with how I think it's going to end up being. I like the writing style, especially because things have changed between the past and present.

Like most people above mentioned, I also really dislike Alice. After everything her parents have done for her, she is so rude and cruel to them, even if there are some lies in between. Doesn't the truth hurt? Why does Alice have to know everything?

I like Harvey, but he doesn't deserve to be with such a brat like Alice.

It's a really good book so far, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Wow. Alice is a bitch. Harvey also just seems like a love-struck puppy so far. Hopefully she changes throughout the book.
