Parts 1 & 2 were better than I thought they'd be but I still think the book is better. The movie trilogy concludes this year...the 17th, I think.
I've also seen the Rankin-Bass cartoon version. That one stuck much closer to the book than the Peter Jackson trilogy ever has.
This is a clip of the opening of Rankin-Bass' 1977 animated version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fw0l...

Am I understanding you rightly? The Hobbit has enough substance for a trilogy? Or are you talk LOTR?
Addendum : My bad, I found the two parts on netflix. Hope it has some good looking men.

There was a lot of background stuff that was never really explored in any previous version of The Hobbit, even the original novel. So with all the unexplored background materials, there is indeed enough material and substance in the Hobbit for a trilogy of its own, but as far as the way the Dwarves look, I prefer seeing them in my mind's eye when I read the original novel, although I like the fact that THIS Thorin looks like he could play rugby with the head of Jar Jar Binks!
Yes, they are much more dramatic than any sanitized, Disney-style fairy tale movie. As an example, in the 1037 version of SNOW WHITE, her stepmother dies when she falls off a cliff but in the Brothers Grimm version, the evil Queen survives, is invited to her step daughter's wedding and is forced to dance to death in a pair of red hot iron shoes at the reception or whatever it was they called the party afterwards! YIKES!
Yes. There are. Of course the two best looking Elves, IMO, are Elrond and Legolas... . Thorin and his nephews are the best looking Dwarves and then there's Bard...not bad for a single father. ;)

The Riders of Rohan are NOT involved in The Hobbit. Sorry, Wendy! And you might find this video funny...especially Galadriel's final line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL52R...

Really good book!
