Mary Chin (maryamdinzly) This month's theme will be HARDWORKING. I know the theme is quite weird, but be creative. Examples could be a book about guys working in a ranch, etc. Just, anything to do with hardworking, because this month, there is Labour Day. :) It could be from any genre too. So if anybody could just volunteer a book that they want to read next month, and a poll will be held by 25 April, in which the results will be revealed by 30th April at 0000hours :)

so, please recommend a good book :)
it could be one that was from your TBR list also :)

This one was a hard theme to think of a book on. But I guess I'd have to say Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. It's a classic but it's the only thing that has something about scientific hard work that I've got. Lol.

Little House in the Big Woods. Even though its a young adult/children's book it shows the hard work the family puts in in order to the survive in the wilderness

Robinson Crusoe and The Grapes Of Wrath. I think both books show how hard some people have had to work in order to survive.

Alice Poon (alice_poon) I would like to vote for Emile Zola's "L'Assommoir" ("The Dram Shop"), which is a heart-rending tale of a working-class woman's doomed attempt to overcome the material squalor of 19th century French lower social class environment.
L'Assommoir (The Dram Shop)
