The stats show that 50% of rural girls under 18 are married. I wonder what the stats are for under 16.

This sort of thing is the norm in certain communities, women are possessions, or seen as a liability. It's hardly surprising the girls occasionally lash out. We had an incident here recently where a Pakistan male came here, found himself a 14 year old girl, arranged for a local cleric to marry them. They were found out when he sent her to school and identified himself as her husband. Her parents were charged, the cleric was fined $500 and deported, I am not sure what happened to the husband. It just highlights what a low value women have in some cultures.
