I am looking for a song that encompasses the entire book, not just America's relationship with one character, but that actually makes sense with the whole book.

There's a moment in the One where Maxon and America are on the roof dancing in the rain. The PERFECT song to go with this is "All About Us" by He is We. I think it may have been on the City of Bones soundtrack but what do I know, I'm a teenage girl.

I have one I always listen to when Maxon gives the letters to America in "The One".

Listen to "Breathe Again" by Sara Bariellis while reading that part in order to feel ALL THE FEELS.

Okay so for The Selection you have to do the song Love Story by Taylor Swift, The Elite you would play Say Something by a Great Big World, and for the one you would play Skinny Love by Birdy. Of course you could put any of these song in any order because she's constantly fighting over Maxon or Aspen.

I think Never Be Alone by Shawn Mendes, I Wish by One Direction, and Little Do You Know by Alex & Sierra go with this book. Really the whole series. Little Do You Know for the part after Aspen and America break up in The Selection, but then it continues with the storyline throughout all 3 books. I Wish for anytime Aspen sees America and Maxon together. And Never Be Alone for when Aspen gives America the button bracelet in The Elite. But really the songs apply to any part in any of the books.

I would totally say Long live by Taylor swift for the scene when they are dancing on the roof in the one and at the Halloween party.

When I think of Maxon and America's relationship I always think of the song, "Like I'm gonna loose you" by Meghan Trainor. The first time i heard the song after I read the series I seriously cried. But I guess that just goes with their relationship not the whole book.

I agree! James Arthur is also a very emotional (not in a bad way, meaning he'll let his emotions out) and passionate singer, and that's one of the reasons I love his music so much.

Here are some songs I think go with The Selection.

1. Catch My Breath by Kelly Clarkson represents times when America is fed up of having to be perfect all the time ("turning my cheek for the sake of the show").
2. I Got You by Bebe Rexha shows how much Marlee and Carter sacrificed for each other's happiness ("I'd take a shot for you, tell a lie for you, yeah, baby, that's what I do").
3. Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat - America and Maxon started as friends and became much more.
4. Perfect as well as Happier by Ed Sheeran.
5. Honest by Shawn Mendes represents America and Aspen in the treehouse, him saying they had to break it off because he couldn't provide for her.

I love One Direction and Shawn Mendes, and I agree one hundred percent!

Blank Space by Taylor Swift really describes America and Maxon's relationship. They could sing it like duet.

I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift. In fact, a lot of Taylor Swift songs could encompass the entire theme of the series!!!

Love Story - Taylor Swift (How America felt about Aspen at the beginning of the Selection)
The Last Time - Taylor swift ft. Gary Lightbody (How Maxon feels about America always breaking his heart)
Stay Stay Stay - Taylor Swift (A song about America and Maxon being in love even though they fight)
Delicate - Taylor Swift (How America feels when she first falls for Maxon)
King of my Heart - Taylor Swift (When America and Maxon are married)
Enchanted -Taylor Swift (How Maxon feels about first meeting America)
Haunted - Taylor Swift (America's breakup song about Aspen)

I think Long Live, King Of My Heart, Ours and Better Than Revenge (for when Celeste tries to seduce Maxon) by Taylor Swift suits this series sooooo well
