Attention Discworld readers of this group, all three or four of you!

The next book in the series is The Last Hero which seems to be almost a spin-off, much shorter in length than the other Discworld books. It's also VERY EXPENSIVE to buy, at least on Amazon. It seems there is no e-reader version available.

A dear friend was kind enough to loan me her copy, otherwise, I'd be sittin' this read out.

What do the rest of you think?

Will you have trouble getting a copy through your local library?

Should we skip this one and go onto The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents which is inexpensive and readily available?

Check into this and let me know your decision.

Mathew Smith | 686 comments Sounds like a good one. I like Cohen the Barbarian. It is not at my library, but, seeing as I haven't read the past half dozen don't base your decision on little old me.

It's at my library. It's fine if we jump over it--I'll just read it in addition to the group read.

Is anyone but the two of us reading these, Melki?

BTW, it appears to be heavily illustrated--not quite a graphic novel, but an illustrated novel, to my surprise (not sure how I feel about that).

I think it IS just the two of us, so if you can get a copy, I say, let's go for it. It will be nice to read a shorter book for a change.

Mathew Smith | 686 comments I have a copy. I started it, I should finish it by next month so I can participate.

Then there will be at least three of us! I need to come up with something intelligent to say about this month's book. . .

Yes, let's prepare to discuss the larger theme of this book - how one's profession becomes one's self identity and retirement therefore does not become an option.
Or, how silly an eighty year old barbarian can be.

Oh, great, now you've already done the discussion for next month. Nothing left to say.

Hey, I'm psyched that there'll be three of us at least!

Zack | 35 comments I have a copy of the ebook version, drm free. If anyone needs itI can get it to you. Just let me know what format you need it in, epub, mobi, our pdf. I doubt Sir Pratchett would mind a free giveaway to his loyal fans. Message me and I'll send you a link.

Woo-hoo! Thanks, Zack.

Michael Clemens (mpclemens) Inter-library loan to the rescue! "My" copy is on the way, though it will need to wait for spring break to finish up since it's from an academic library. I've got a copy of Maurice at home, so I'll delve into that one next, but count me in for Cohen shenanigans as well.
