Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Rosina | 127 comments Hi Elishia...found my team...never played before...

message 7: by Elishia (last edited Apr 15, 2014 09:44AM) (new)

Elishia I played last round and it really helped me catch up on some series. Do you know how to play?

Where does everyone live and does anybody want to be captain? I'm rubbish at coming up with names so if anyone has any ideas ☺

message 8: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 127 comments I live in Canada...I don't want to be captain....I read the instructions and got a general idea of what goes on....looks like fun....

I ll think of some ideas for names....

message 9: by Karla (new)

Karla I'm Karla, from Federal Way, Washington. This is my first round. I couldn't do the last round, I was already in two team challenges, and was the captain in both.

I'm not good at coming up with names, the only one I could think of was Baker's Dozen, since when you ask for a baker's dozen you get thirteen.

message 10: by Elishia (last edited Apr 16, 2014 03:29AM) (new)

Elishia Hi Karla
Thats actually a good one I can't think of anything that involves 13.

I don't mind being captain if nobody else wants to do it. I volunteered for captain last round because when I played the 2 book one I felt like I was missing out on a day or 2 of reading due to the time difference but probably won't matter so much with 1 book.

message 11: by Elishia (new)

Elishia Lucky 13
XIII
Tzameti apparently means 13 in Georgian

message 12: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 127 comments I like Tzameti...its different unique...

message 13: by Karla (new)

Karla I'm fine with whatever name the rest of you want.

And I'm fine with Elishia being captain.

message 14: by Elishia (new)

Elishia Thats what I thought Rosina.

Ok Karla i'll wait and see what Christine thinks, i've just messaged her in case she didn't know the thread was up.

message 15: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 127 comments Ditto for Elisha as captain. I sent Christine a pm yesterday as well.

Excited for this challenge to start and getting to know you and your books recs.

what genre do you mostly read? I really like dark urban fantasy, romantic suspense, historical or books like Da Vinci Code. I just like good writing, a good story, one that makes me feel like I am right there.

message 16: by Elishia (new)

Elishia Great minds ☺

Me too it forces me not to slack and actually read plus i'm loving getting caught up on some series.

I always end up adding books when I do challenges.
I seem to read a lot of Pnr/UF, m/m and YA but i'll read almost anything especially if it has romance in it.
I like Da Vinci as well I like things with puzzles, if only there was a book like Numbers (the show)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 332 comments Hi, I did not get the update from the other thread :( Thanks for messaging me Elishia!

Therefore I am late to check in, sorry. It's the first time I am playing. Therefore I am fine with Elishia being captain :)

Tzameti sounds good. I haven't heard that before.

My fav genres are PNR/UF, contemp. romance, historical fiction, some scifi/fantasy and ya.

btw I live in Europe so my timing for posting stuff may be off from yours.

I look forward to play with you all!

message 18: by Karla (new)

Karla I like historical fiction, young adult, chick lit, some paranormal, and some biography/autobiography. I like my romance to have a plot line, other than getting the two into bed.

message 19: by Elishia (new)

Elishia Christine i'm in the Uk so we're on similar times.

Historical is something I don't read so i'll probably be getting loads of recs.

I'll go sign us up then with Tzameti (I hadn't heard of it either it was on wiki)

Elishia Think i'm going with A Heart Without Borders by Andrew Grey for the alternative unless I manage to finish my book in time to get to the 6th one Ecstasy Untamed (Feral Warriors, #6) by Pamela Palmer

message 22: by Christine (last edited Apr 19, 2014 12:34PM) (new)

Christine (inhalesbookslikepopcorn) | 332 comments I have no #6 in series waiting for me, I am either past or need to read 3 more books to get there :(

thx for clarifying this Elishia - so no #1 for me but I will listen to Holes (Holes, #1) by Louis Sachar ...is on audio I may start it later the week (after Easter).

As I've browsed through the folders I've seen that the last round some people managed to read their books in one day, I can't do that.

I spend the Easter holidays outside of town so I don't know how much I manage to read.

But I definitely manage to read one book by Thursday and put up a review for it.

As I am a forgetful person :( I list some other options for myself with "H".
The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
Hope Flames (Hope #1) by Jaci Burton
A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter

week 1 - choose: alternate "h"

Hope Flames by Jaci Burton

Elishia The rolls go by the spot you land on so not the dice numbers so you wouldn't be able to read a book #1 until we get past spot 10. I'm having the same problem with #6 as well.

There's no rush in reading as long as its done by Friday when we re roll, I think it only matters if its a winning week and more than one person can win.

message 24: by Karla (new)

Karla I have to find an H title. I am on #5 in two series, but I doubt I could read both of the books before Friday.

message 25: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 127 comments I will be using the alternate

I will be reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Elishia Karla wrote: "I have to find an H title. I am on #5 in two series, but I doubt I could read both of the books before Friday."

I've got the same problem but I need to read them for FWYS so i'm trying my best, but I have plenty of time so fingers crossed I can do it.

message 27: by Elishia (new)

Elishia We seem to all be in the same position this week, it should be a bit easier once it gets into double figures.

FYI i'll post all links and to reviews etc on the first page so its easier to find in later weeks. Do you want me to post what spot the other groups are on? just let me know if you do.

Elishia Roll 1:
Book: Ecstasy Untamed
Rating: ★★★★
Finished: 21/04/14
Review: I'm glad this series was picked for me to read this month or I don't know when I would of got to it. I loved being back in the world, I was as happy as they was when the 17 returned after 600 years but that was short lived. Hated Maxim from the beginning he almost put me off reading it but I loved Faith and Hawk especially after what happened in the previous book.

message 33: by Karla (last edited May 02, 2014 06:20PM) (new)

Karla Week 1 - choose: alternate "h"
Book: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Rating: ***
Finished: April 22, 2014
Review: I had this book read to me by my sixth grade teacher. I liked it then, and still like it now. I doubt I would have survived being stranded in the woods alone for fifty plus days! It was a good book.

It's #1 in a series, so that adds another option if we land on a number with a 2.

message 34: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 127 comments Week 1 alternate choice book with the letter h

Book The Help ★★★★★
Finished April 19
Review: I really loved this story, the author managed to capture that time period so well. Her way of writing the way people spoke was excellent. You felt for the characters and what they were encountering, I love it when an author makes you feel like you are really immersed in the story. Excellent debut novel.

Rating: ★★★
Finished: 26/04/14
Review:
This was a lot better than I expected it to be I could be that I was sleep deprived at that point (was doing a 24 readathon)so it just seemed funnier than it was. The biggest suprises to me were the slippers being Silver and not read and the queen being a dwarf as well.

I really like that series. The first one was good but I liked the second one even more. But that might have had to do with Ford (the hot hero!)
