Whitney (wsquared) | 68 comments Fresh off a Printz win for Midwinterblood, Marcus Sedgwick has another novel out this year. Does She Is Not Invisible rise to the occasion?

message 2: by Kathy (new) - added it

Kathy (thebrainlair) | 198 comments I love that we have two previous Printz winners going head to head! Let the best man, er book, win!

Maureen (mhsquier) | 79 comments I am having trouble finding this book - it's not available in either my school library system or my public library consortium. I finally this past week located a copy in a neighboring system that I will ILL, but I didn't expect to have such troubles finding it. Anyone else having trouble?

Anne (librarianguish) I much preferred this book over Noggin. Sedgwick's writing is much more complex and thought-provoking.

Maureen (mhsquier) | 79 comments Finally got a copy of this book, and so glad I did! Sedgwick managed to fit so much into a mere 216 pages. To have a book that lacks almost all visual description, but so rich with sounds, smells, etc. The science/math elements were thought provoking, and seem pretty accurate. The suspense of the ending kept me on the edge of my seat - I love books that do that!

Laureth and Benjamin were well drawn protagonists, and the supporting characters were also done well (I especially loved the character of Michael and finding out his identity).

Really enjoy this book - not sure if it would garner the medal, but could see it as an honor book at this point.

Andrew Hicks Just finally posted my review of this title. I really liked it overall, though it seemed like it had a fully realized first act and second act, then the third act was rushed and anticlimactic. I'll be reading more Sedgwick, though, for sure - Midwinterblood next, most likely.

Elaine Fultz, Teacher Librarian, MLS I'm working through the Mock titles little by little and this one outshines We Were Liars in its overall impact. Both have some issues in the plausibility department, but I never felt lost (ironically) in She is Not Invisible. In We Were Liars, I felt like the author was tricking me for the benefit of cleverness and a final gotcha, not for the benefit of storytelling. Invisible is a WOW. Liars is a What the hell?
