MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments I had this idea early in 2015, that I would like to read a book with a title which began with a different letter of the alphabet. 26 books in total. I was genuinely unsure if I might find sufficient new reads that I could achieve it. Turns out that I'm finished, with a few weeks to spare. Feel quite chuffed! I've read a lot more than 26 books this year, but here is my list of favourite books in alphabetical order. Most were 4-5 star reads:

A: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
B: Barbed Wire And Roses by Peter Yeldham
C: Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith
D: The Dig Tree: The Story of Bravery, Insanity, and the Race to Discover Australia's Wild Frontier by Sarah Murgatroyd
E: Evan's Gallipoli by Kerry Greenwood
F: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
G: The Giver by Lois Lowry
H: The Heroes by Ronald McKie
I: Irène by Pierre Lemaitre
J: Joy for Beginners by Erica Bauermeister
K: The Kraken Wakes by John Wyndham
L: The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
M: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
N: Nine Days by Toni Jordan
O: On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
P: Promise by Tony Cavanaugh
Q: The Quick and the Thread by Amanda Lee
R: Ronan's Echo by Joanne van Os
S: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
T: This House of Grief by Helen Garner
U: Us by David Nicholls
V: The Vault by Ruth Rendell
W: Watson's Pier by Joshua Funder
X: XO by Jeffery Deaver
Y: A Young Man's Passage by Julian Clary
Z: Zoli by Colum McCann

Stef Rozitis I was thinking of doing this next year! Not sure if I saw you do it then forgot about it or if I also had the same thought but a year alter ;)

I found it a most worthwhile challenge, and I had great fun along the way Stef. The key thing is to set up some sort of tracking, so you know exactly where you are with the letters. It is harder to find titles starting with the more uncommon letters of the alphabet like X, Q and J.

I did that last year as a challenge for another group. This year I did author's names instead. X was a bit of an issue for that too!

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Maybe numbers in the title next time Mary? ;) Although I see you've already read a couple of those as well :)

Ah, Phrynne, I have been thinking of doing this as a 2016 challenge. Indeed, very difficult to find an author's name beginning with X, unless they are Chinese or similar.

I can envisage undertaking to read a whole series of Matthew Reilly books Jools!! Hmmm, perhaps not!

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments Actually Jools, all jokes aside, a challenge with sequential numbers in the titles could be a really good one. I've already got a couple on my TBR list that would fit:
One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
Two Weeks with the Queen by Morris Gleitzman
and so on and so on...

Sounding good, the challenge being to get to the highest total? A bit like book bingo :)

Veronica ⭐️ | 2384 comments Great challenge Mary. I was also doing the A-Z challenge still have 4 to go.
I like the number challenge. May do that next year.

Good luck Veronica, in getting those 4 titles read by 31/21. Hope they are all easy ones. Reading 26 books in a meaningful pattern is quite satisfying I found.
