message 2: by Phoenix2 (new)

Phoenix2 Me too, usually something with no lyrics that can't get me distracted

message 3: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 1735 comments Yeah sometimes music can be really distracting when reading. And can I just say I LOVE your profile pic Phoenix!

message 4: by Phoenix2 (new)

Phoenix2 Ha ha, thanks, I wish I had a dog like that one though :(

message 5: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 1735 comments I thought it was your dog, haha. It's so cute!

message 6: by Phoenix2 (new)

I can assure you Phoenix not all dogs like dressing up that much either. Trust me I know, I have three.

I never listen to music while I read, it distracts me way too much and makes me think about different things, so I can't focus on reading the book.

Amanda-I dream of a gallant southern gentleman watching the sunset | 258 comments I can't listen to music while I read either. It always distracts me and takes me away from the world of bliss I have come to love.

Nancy Drew soundtracks on YouTube.

message 13: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (fullycyn) | 10 comments Can't really listen to music while reading, but when I'm in the mood, some instrumental ones can do. Especially guitar.

message 14: by Michele (new)

Michele Depends on what I am reading or where I am. I listen to anything from Oldies to Pentatonix to Volbeat.

message 15: by Nashalee (new)

Nashalee (thehipgeeknerd) At first, I listen to Halsey or Melanie Martinez then, I read the rest of the book in silence unless the ending is really epic; that's when I put dramatic instrumental music.

Maybe I should try listening to music while reading some parts of books. Might make it more epic.

message 17: by Anny (new)

Anny (annyreads) Anything that has no lyrics. Usually piano or violin, which is the same I listen to when working.
Except if I read for studies, then nothing, no sounds!!

message 18: by Liz (new)

Liz I always listen to movie scores to get me in the mood

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm starting to like listening to "Crimson Peak" soundtracks.

LOVE that soundtrack. Definitely becoming one of my faves.

message 21: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) If you read a lot of fantasy, then please PLEASE look up @therealsjmaas on Spotify and listen to her playlists, they are EPIC and they really move the story with you.

And I thought I was the only one. That leaves me with Nancy Drew soundtracks and Crimson Peak soundtracks. They really fit my stories.

Sam Cate (samcsch) Taylor *The Sinner* wrote: "What types of music do you listen to when you read?"
I always listen to Kodaline when listening to contemporary and Bastille when listening to dystopian/thriller/sci-fi. Other than that I typically listen to The Strokes or The Shins.

message 25: by JoAlice (new)

JoAlice I find music destracting while I'm reading.

message 26: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 1735 comments @JoAlice I agree, I do like to listen to music while reading but it is sometimes quite distracting.

message 27: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I listen to @therealsjmaas on Spotify, because she's got GREAT playlists that really immerse you in the book. :)

I really need to look at Sarah J Maas' playlist, what are some of the songs?

message 29: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) There's a lot from Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Two Steps from Hell. Really dramatic, emotional pieces!

message 30: by Lexie, Reading and writing is my paradise! (new)

Lexie | 758 comments Mod
Oh I love Two steps from hell they are amazing!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't listen music when I read, I like a lot music so it distracts me and I don't read whit it

message 32: by Bless (new)

Bless (pointbeemo) | 7 comments I like to listen to music while I read... but not ocean sounds or anything.
I prefer a constantly shifting selection of meaningful, play-it-again, awesome songs or melodies that either have something to do with the book or have something to do with my life at the moment.
Some of the music I like is pretty unknown, and some of it is old, but I don't care about that. ☆

That's kinda like me.

message 34: by Kageyama (new)

Kageyama Tobio (kageyamatobio) | 2 comments I don't listen to music when I read except for when I'm at school, and everyone near me is bothering me, so I put my headphones on and music playing in order to block other people out.
Usually, I just listen to my playlist which is mainly made up of Kpop, Jpop, and bands similar to Fall Out Boys and Twenty One Pilots.
It probably ends up making me even more distracted, but it's better than listening to people talk.

message 35: by Kate Elizabeth (new)

Kate Elizabeth (k_hodgeyyy) I don't really have a specific type of music I listen to while reading, I just put my ipod on shuffle. The only thing I can't listen to is Disney because I end up getting distracted and singing along with it haha :')

message 36: by ✨ jami ✨ (new)

✨ jami ✨ (jamieson_) | 2 comments When I'm reading on the bus I put in music to block out the sound. I like listening to Ed Sheeran and Ben Howard when I read. Their songs block out the noise but they're soft so that it doesn't distract me

message 37: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) | 413 comments Love Ed Sheeran!!!
:)

I usually don't listen to things when reading but when I do... It's Celtic music or something (without words)
