Kira Lou | 4 comments I've recently read news about Chris Pratt being a Christian. He said that he refuses to do sex scenes because of his faith, but he had a kissing scene with his Jurassic World screen partner Bryce Dallas Howard.

What are your thoughts on this? Should a Christian enter the entertainment industry? What about kissing scenes, swear words, acting as a witch/demon/supernatural creatures, etc.?

*edit* I recently learned, too, that he has a sex scene with Jennifer Lawrence in the upcoming movie, Passengers.

Lynne Stringer | 74 comments It's very difficult to be a Christian and be an actor in mainstream Hollywood. However, I don't think it's impossible, but it would mean you're turning down a lot of roles or turning a blind eye to aspects of your faith.

It's not up to us to judge them, though. There are a lot of Christians who compromise their faith in their workplace and if they're friends of ours, perhaps we can help them be accountable. I do think it's a good idea to pray for Christians that we know in Hollywood.

Robert Dallmann (robert_dallmann) 2 Timothy 2:22 - "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

1 Thessalonians 5:22 - "Abstain from all appearance of evil."

2 Corinthians 6:17 - "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."

It would be hard though to be a well known star, trying to get a part in a movie, with compromising your faith. I can think of stars that perhaps are Christian. I try not to judge. I read novels, and watch Jane Austen Films, and other BBC Historical Fiction, brought to the screen..In these films there is very few kisses, if any..BUT I still delight in them, so does that make us that watch say Pride and Predjudice a sinner because the couple kisses at the end???? Shall we say no television because of a murder, or a kiss...? I think this is a hard thing to judge.....Audrey Hepburn played a nun, yet she kissed in other movies...I have read about her life, and her selfless giving..How do we as Christians judge this? I orgainisze older church ladies to go to the theater if their is something PG or Christbased..Yet they have seen light clean romantic comedies with a kiss or two, and have enjoyed them. Many are widows, and I could not for the life in me tell these sweet ladies that because a kiss was performed that we should disband. They enjoy the outings, and we vote on a movie, and I read up on it before we go.

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 79 comments If a Christian wants to be in the Hollywood industry, he or she must give up participating in anything that would contradict what Jesus or the Bible teaches. I've seen so many celebrities call themselves followers of Jesus but their actions never own up to it. Because Hollywood is so anti Christian a majority of the time, it is not a good influence for Christians. I don't watch a whole lot of prime time tv or movies because of the messages of lust, witchcraft, swearing or strong violent content. I enjoy some family friendly networks like Disney Channel, and I enjoy watching food and travel tv. Since I've gotten baptized, I've come to realize that being close with God is better than being close with the world. The Bible says that friendship with the world is enmity with God.

I think a Christian should go wherever God calls him/her. There is no place off limits if God has deemed it the place to go. Then it's up to the individual Christian to go on the path God sets out for him/her the way it is set out. I think Christians in Hollywood need us to pray for them. We do need more excellent, up-to-date Christian movies like "War Room."

Sarah Baker | 12 comments I look up to Christians who are in Hollywood. Not because they're famous but because they're reaching out to more people. And just like we lead by example that includes actors because whatever they choose to act influences people. Good or bad. But we are all accounted for the way we influence people.
