E.A. Sharpe (erniegreenway) | 1 comments Hi, I need reviewers for my book, The Last Magi. It's the story of Artaban, the fourth Wise Man, who arrives in Bethlehem after the Holy Family has left. Thus begins a quest that will take Artaban across Asia in search of the child prophesied to become a great king. This is a retelling of a story my grandmother read to me years ago called The Other Wise Man, written in 1895 by Henry Van Dyke. Recently I found it at a used book store but was disappointed. Van Dyke was no Dickens; his story is still strong but the characters (all male) are flat and the old-fashioned prose hasn’t aged well. Once a Christmas staple, today it’s largely forgotten. I’ve completely rewritten it, staying true to the spirit of the original but expanding the plot to underscore Artaban’s “magnificent folly” and its final, glorious resolution. I have also added characters such as Ismail, a sort of Sancho Panza to Artaban’s Quixote, and Rasha, his fiery betrothed, whom he delays marrying to join his fellow Magi. I can provide free versions in Epub, Mobi, Azw3 and PDF. If interested, please post replies with your email on this thread.
