Monsters don't cry.....or do they? Come and join us if you dare. So far it's Justin and I. I haven't read Mckenzie since Muerte con carne, which was pretty good. Mckenzie is as extreme as they come so I usually don't read his stuff, but since deadite press sent this to me, I figure id give him another chance.

I made it to 20% and I think things are really gonna go down now...(view spoiler)[Natasha is home alone and I think Sway is gonna go down in some kind of unnatural bloodbath. Poor guy ain't gonna know what hit him. I do feel bad for Natasha. She might have turned out better had she actually had a mother instead of a mother who treats her like a piece of trash. Ok. So I made it past 25% to see how bad it was gonna get. (view spoiler)[ok. It was pretty bad. I had to turn away a few times, but managed to get through. Omg. What is wrong with this chick? I'm really hoping they lock her back into her room but I somehow doubt it. (hide spoiler)]

I'm home early from work, going to take a nap under my heated blanket while the kindle charges and then read a bit. I have no plans of getting out of this bed until tomorrow morning.

Nice! This book is like a train wreck. I keep reading it even though I keep telling myself to stop. I have a pretty good idea of what's gonna happen, but I'll let u catch up.

Well, my nap lasted longer than i expected i woke up long enough to eat and read the first 2 chapters (13%) im going back to bed now but i will catch up tomorrow for sure. So far its pretty disturbing.

I'm going to go ahead and read to 50%. You where right about sway, he got it pretty bad! Now how is the drug dealer going to cone into it?

I read to 46% because it is the start of a chapter. Everything is coming together and I'm enjoying the story but the violence/gore just makes you roll your eyes in parts. It's not really disturbing like the child abuse was, just kind of stupid.

I'll try to get to 50% today. I'm thinking that Natasha escapes into the woods and starts killing everybody at the party. That's just a guess though.

Do u think the name officer laymon is an accident or a tribute?

I got to 46%. Natasha killing her mom and dad....there are just no words. Not that they didn't have it coming. After reading all the gore, I just find it unnecessary. The story is good, but I'm not sure if he's just trying to hard to gross people out. It's working, but the story would be better without it, IMO.

I don't mind excessive violence and gore i just think the way it is done is a bit corny. She ripped one persons jaw off and stabbed the teeth into the other guys skull, yea ok sure. Then all the ripping parts off and throwing and stomping, its all so unrealistic i couldn't even picture it in a non cartoon way. It was like itchy and scratchy or something.

And what's with all the bile she keeps puking up? Just doesn't seem like someone could really vomit that much. Maybe? And were there 3 guys in the room or two? I couldn't make it out.

Your posts here made me want to read this one. I downloaded the sample and read the first few chapters. It is definitely extreme and over the top. Not sure about spending $4.95 though. Was hoping it was on Unlimited. Might just pass, but we will see. I am on vacation for 2 weeks and have a lot of reading time planned.

Vicki, If you don't mind lots of gore and violence, this is for you! It's not something I'm a big fan of, but I thought I'd give it another shot since I've read Mckenzie before. I highly recommend Muerte Con Carne. Check it out if it's on unlimited or it might be cheaper at least.

Mutt sounds interesting. I haven't had a chance to read Monsters though. Christmas week will be a challenge, but I'll keep u up to date.

I've made it to 60%. And it's definitely starting to get good. Body count is rising...lol.

65% and it's definitely heading where I thought it would.

I'm at 65% and yea it was very predictable where it was going. My feelings for this book are the same, it's ok but i still don't really like the unrealistic over the top violence that almost seems cartoonish. The characters and emotions are the same way as the violence, just over the top stereotypes and her rediculous feelings of love that the author tried to justify with the way she was raised but it just didn't work. I think this would have maybe made a better graphic novel.

I agree. The graphic novel would have suited this story better. I'm around 85% and it's definitely gotten over the top. He's really killing off every character in the book.

I'm at a good stopping point on the woman so I'm going to finish this off now, it shouldn't take long.

I'm at 80% and need a break. I'm really not enjoying it at all anymore.

Ok. I did manage to finish this and I gave it 2 stars if that says anything. Just not really my thing. Feels like he just wanted to shock which got pretty old fast.

Yea, i love over the top gross out horror but this just wasnt done right. How does a woman that's been caged in her room and beaten all her life have the muscle to do what she does? I get she is large and deformed but how is she that strong? And how does she keep vomiting through the entire book, that's a lot of vomit. With them inducing my wife i know a little more about it, and it makes me think of an over the top Edward lee novel i read awhile back where the maffia gos to war with the hillbillies from header and they keep trying to kill each other off a more and more over the top gross out fashion. One thing they did is they sufficated a man to death by shoving his head in the vagina of a morbidly obese woman. Pretty over the top messed up stuff right? The diffrent between that book and this one though is that book described how they used medication and techniques that the doctors use to induce woman with to open up her cervix and be able to do it. Even with that I'm not sure it is possible but at least he made an attempt to show how it was done. Monsters dont cry expects you to just roll with the idea that a woman that's been locked in her room her entire life allowed to do nothing but watch one single tv show can pick up and rip to pieces a whole gang of large muscle bound killers and get shot in the face without flinching.
