Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she's made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings…

Told in alternating chapters is Darcy's novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the 'Afterworld' to survive a terrorist attack. But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved - and terrifying - stories need to be reconciled. And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most.

Starting tonight

Started. End of 1 (view spoiler)[ a nice solid start. Great writing. (hide spoiler)]

End of 2 (view spoiler)[ wow just wow. My heart is racing. That was intense. A shooting at the airport. I'm glad the 911 operator told her to play dead. And her hitting her head on the floor helped. (hide spoiler)]

End of 5 (view spoiler)[ so Darcy has moved to New York and Lizzie has met some mysterious brother and sister but is alive. (hide spoiler)]

End of 11 (view spoiler)[ I did not see the similar connections between the names of Darcy and Lizzie. Interesting.

It was cool that she got to meet the other "new" authors and learn about their books.

End of 22 (view spoiler)[ I love the format of this book. Back and forth between the two characters. I keep trying to determine and figure out if this could be made into a movie or TV show. It would be hard but cool to see (hide spoiler)]

End of 31 (view spoiler)[ So the tour seemed like it went okay for both but now they have to get back to editing their books and working on the next book in their series. Wonder what she will write about next (hide spoiler)]

Done (view spoiler)[ A pretty good book. I was putting it off for some time but glad I read it. There were some twists and turns and I enjoyed the style and format. (hide spoiler)]

Hopefully we get more from the author like this.
