Please share your suggestions, or any resources you've used to help find your book for this category in this thread.

Definitions:

Memoir: an historical account or biography written from personal knowledge or special sources.

Autobiography: an account of a person's life written by that person.

Biography: an account of someone's life written by someone else.

(It's not your imagination - memoirs and autobiographies are pretty much the same thing)

I have chosen to read "Furiously Happy" by Jenny Lawson

Well, I recently bought Gonzo: The Life of Hunter S. Thompson but I understand that Hunter's widow doesn't like the book and isn't supportive of it. That makes me sad and less inclined to read it. But I need to read what I have, so I'll probably make it my choice for this slot.

I have chosen Accused: My Fight for Truth, Justice, and the Strength to Forgive by Tonya Craft

I think I am going to read Alexander Hamilton I blame Lin-Manuel Miranda!

When gophering for this category, I realized my TBR pile has so many auto/biographies/memoirs. It will be hard to choose, but I'm thinking of:

My book club is doing Maeve's Times for January. So, that will be my choice.

A wonderful memoir is The End of Your Life Bookclub.

I read this a few years ago and then recommended it to my 90-year-old mother. Her book group read it as a group read.

I'm trying not to plan everything, but a possible memoir selection is A House in the Sky. I own it and I'd be whittling down my TBR pile.

This is another category I'll probably skip for tier 1. I really dislike memoirs and biographys, and I don't have one in mind right now. I might give it a try if I find one that interest me enough.

As far as this category, I'm not sure what to choose yet. But I do suggest Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession by Anne Rice because it was great. She is a passionate, interesting woman and this tells more of her childhood and is a chance to get to know her outside of her fiction.

For this one I'll definately read "I am Malala". A book I've had on my readingshelf for about a year now!

There is so much books for this category , but i have read two: "Popular" by Maya Van Wagenen and "Chinese Cinderella" by Adeline Yen Mah. Loved Popular the most, amazing it is recommended for teens AMAZING!!!!

Are you into music at all? There are a lot of great new memoirs out by women musicians. Last year I read Girl in a Band by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, and it was excellent. This year I'm planning to read Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney.

Another very interesting memoir was Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated by Alison Arngrim. What an amazing person she is!

I have read the book by Alison Arngrim and really enjoyed it!

On New Year's day I read Girl in the Dark by Anna Lyndsey. A memoir about a woman from Britain who is allergic to sunlight and lives much of her life in a black out room. I highly recommend it! Last year I read this book and I recommend it also for this category: You're Never Weird on the Internet by Felicia Day. It was hilarious and fabulous, great memoir. If you are on the younger side of life, this is a great one for you.

I just finished . My bookclub is reading the sequel to this memoir for our January selection, so I felt that I wanted to read this one first.

I have a few ideas, but I have not made up my mind yet about this category. I'll be taking a book from my TBR, so books that I already own among, these four: :

The Measure of a Man by Sidney Poitier is my choice. I always liked
his movies and enjoyed learning about his life.

I loved Why Not Me? so much!! I would definitely recommend this if you are a fan of hers/The Mindy Project or Office

I just finished The Wright Brothers, by David McCullough.

Currently reading The Diary of Anne Frank.

I read An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield for this category which I enjoyed

I've since read Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson just because it sounded good, and I loved it. Would definitely recommend!
