Understanding everyone is still either recouping from the holidays/going back to work, and reading other books, I think we can start this book by the end of the week (Sunday)? Or even next week is fine. Then we can post topics as we go ("Chapters 1-3: WTF") and discuss in comments. That way we can go at out own pace and still "read" together. Thoughts?

I'm excited to read something together! :)

Jennifer (mamselle) Sounds good to me! I have a 4-day weekend, so may start a little sooner to help balance my reading load.

This sounds great, because my book will be in by tomorrow! I can definitely start it by Sunday.

I have this odd feeling that I will be the last to finish this book! :P

Jennifer (mamselle) Just checking in to see where everyone is in the book. I'm at the chapter titled Penny's Story in Book II. I'm taking a break for the night to catch up on my other book. Let me know when you guys would like to discuss!

I am almost at the 100 page mark, but I would like to get another 50 pages in before really discussing it (characters etc). With that being said, did you find the plot took awhile to really get moving? I just feel like nothing really interesting has happened yet.

Jennifer (mamselle) I wasn't too bothered by the pace of the plot until I got within the last 100 pages, when the pacing seemed really uneven. That said, there were many times when I felt as if Grossman spent too much time on character development and not enough on moving the story forward. This was especially problematic for me (again, at the end), when everything suddenly became very plot-driven.

I'm not very far either - I think I'm at the 130 page mark, but I just got back from my trip to Southern Indiana and plan to catch up! So far I'm digging the book.
