This folder is for a book that a friendly librarian has recommend to you.

Go visit your local library and ask a librarian for a recommendation - but only if they're friendly!

There are also quite a few librarians in this group - find one and send a message asking for a recommendation.

Amanda | 229 comments This was fairly easy as I have a friend from high school that works at the library. I sent her a message and she recommended "The Girl on the Train" and I all ready owned it and have been wanting to read it for awhile now, so yay!

Kim Ford | 6 comments There are a number of librarians in this challenge, I am sure they would be able to recommend a book or two ;)

Teresa (teremazon) I am going to admit to a little cheating on this category. My library membership has expired a couple of years ago. Despite having a great little one within 200 yards of my new house, I have never bothered to rejoin. I mostly read electronic books nowadays and these are not available there. So I don't know or are likely to meet a librarian, friendly or otherwise. So I have been online, to the librarians' association website. They had a handy, compact list by month. And I have picked A Spool of Blue Thread

A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler

I get the weekly newsletter from Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh, NC. They are a wonderful independent bookstore.
They love this book and described it better than other reviews.
I am actually going with another book because of my other book club, but this now runs second.

Stacy I asked my local librarian yesterday and she handed me The Paper Magician so that's what I'm using. It looks good and definitely something I'd like so I'm happy to have a librarian that knows me so well!

Ann-Marie (amsjob) When I was ten years old the library was my refuge from a turbulent home. One of the librarians gave meThe Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis to read and it changed my life. I have read it a few times since then and I`ll gladly read it once more.

Nancy Regan Local treasure and nationally famous librarian Nancy Pearl (there's even a Nancy Pearl action figure) had this to say about this year's fiction Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen by Viet Thanh Nguyen:

"A very special, important, brilliant novel...Amazing...I don't say brilliant about a lot of books, but this is a brilliant book...A fabulous book...that everyone should read."

I've just finished the book; Nancy has never steered me wrong and her streak is unbroken.

Mary Sue When you first enter my local library, there is a table called "Good Books You Might Have Missed". I found A Spool of Blue Thread there, so that was my pick for this task. I loved it! This was my first Anne Tyler book, and I will definitely read more of her work.
