That also takes place in North Carolina where I live ! Nice choice.

Shannon (shan_noel) | 2 comments Can it take place under the water? A local author wrote a book that takes place in an academy on the ocean floor.

Chelsea Morris For anyone looking for non-fiction, I just finished Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in history.

Melissa I am going to read In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick. It is non-fiction and tells the story of the whaling ship the Essex. This true story inspired the writing of Moby Dick. It was made into a movie with Chris Hemsworth and Cillian Murphy released in the US in December of 2015. I plan on reading the book and then checking out the movie.

Teresa (teremazon) Could someone please clarify whetherThe Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman actually happens by the sea or is related to the sea, or it is just a poetic title and has nothing to do with it?

I have the same doubts about The Deep End of the Ocean

message 13: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teremazon) @ Amanda, I also have We Were Liars in my kindle too. Is this connected to the sea? It could be a possible one

No, the ocean in the title is a little pond in the back garden of a house. But this challenge is as flexible as you'd like it to be, so go for it :) From what I've read of it so far, it's a fantastic book. Then again, I love Neil Gaiman.

message 15: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teremazon) @ Thomas, thank you for the clarification. I have never read anything but Neil Gaiman yet, but I am getting increasingly interested and I actually have 3 books by him in my kindle. I had gone on a shopping spree last year, planning for my challenge and I ended up substituting them for others.

Kelsey Zielke Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan!

Teresa (teremazon) Ok, I have made up my mind now. I will be reclassifying The Light Between Oceans for this category instead of counting it for "Australia", and pick either In My Father's Den or Big Little Lies for "Australia" now.

Well, it`s a book about the sea so I don't see why not... be as flexible as you want I`d say; )

Awesome. That book is on my TBR list and hadn't thought of it, but will be great for this category. :)

Sarah I have decided to read Life of Pi for this one. It has been recommended to me by so many people!

message 21: by Mary Sue (new)

Mary Sue I read Sweetland for this task. The book is set on a small remote island off Newfoundland. I really liked the book - quirky story, lots of interesting & unique characters and it provides lots of "food for thought".
