This novel is written in 1992, pre-911 and one of the last big wars was Vietnam – did you think this novel felt dated?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments A little but I didn't mind. It could easily be extrapolated to the wars of today (Iraq, Afghanistan).

Agree, Lauren.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I was a young woman during the Vietnam War and I was unaware of the Tunnel Rats type of situation over there, and it seemed I watched most of the coverage. Back then, the nightly news was almost wholly concerned with Vietnam.

This was truly educational for me, and it also extended my concern for Vets who are my age with PTSD. I didn't mind the lack of cell phones, etc. After all, I read books about sleuths and spies in Regency England!! [don't we all?]

All the running around that they had to do was kind of amusing. Today we just take cellphones and email for granted. It was much more difficult then and the 1990s weren't even that long ago... how times have changed!

I still find myself thinking at points that he should use his cell to make a call:)

I had to keep double checking was day it was for the characters. They certainly seemed to get a lot done with all their running around!
