Jennifer Strand (jenniferstrand) | 52 comments I'm Jen and live in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN. I'm married with three children (a 15, 13 and 9 year old) and am a Sales Engineer for a firm that provides construction management software. Luckily I function on very little sleep because I love to read into the wee hours of the night after everyone is tucked into bed.

When I'm not reading, I spend my evenings blogging over at Fictitious Delicious, a sweet little book blog that celebrates the YA/NA genre in a very silly way. (www.fictitiousdelicious.com)

I enjoy reading all types of fiction but especially love the Young Adult, paranormal romance and the angst of New Adult.

My personal goal is to hit 160 books this year.

Hi everyone, I'm Jayne and I found my way here while looking for a smaller sized group that's a bit more personal, and more like a group of friends vs some of the bigger groups out there.

I'm a sahm to 3 (11, 9 and 7), and I'm an avid library user :) I like to read just about everything and this year I'm starting a personal challenge to read 1 million more pages in my lifetime (which should take me into retirement and beyond lol).

message 3: by Julie (new)

Julie | 3 comments Hi I am Julie. I was a part of a group challenge last year and was to read 73 books. I read 100. I saw this group and thought - why not challenge myself to pass my goal of last year!

message 4: by Aydrea (new)

Aydrea | 59 comments Hi I'm Aydrea and I am a paralegal in Minneapolis, MN. I was so busy last year that I read a lot less than usual. I am hoping to do much better this year! I really fell behind on the challenge last year as well, so I plan to fix that. I mostly read YA, with some NA & adult thrown in there occasionally.

message 5: by Lola (new)

Lola (lola24) Hi I'm Dammie and a student in Canada. I love reading and I started the goodreads challenge around April and I was able to read 104 books in 2015, my goal this year is to read 150 books.

message 6: by Liza (new)

Liza Wiemer Hi everyone! I'm Liza and I was excited to get an invite to join this smaller group. I love seeing what other people are reading. I've read over 100 books each year for the past 5 years - but that also includes some audiobooks. I read mostly YA—anything but horror, and am the author of the new realistic contemporary YA novel, HELLO? (Spencer Hill Publishers/Midpoint NYC). I finished my first book of 2016-CIRCUS MIRANDUS (loved it!), which I needed to read for a librarian Mock Printz event I attend every year. I have two blogs: http://www.whorublog.com and http://www.lizawiemer.com

Happy 2016 everyone!

message 7: by Ginny Marie (new)

Ginny Marie | 2 comments Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
I'm Ginny and happy to be here. I enjoy all sorts of books, but mostly Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Right now reading Scott Card's newest, The Gatefather. Hope to do 200 this year!

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 35 comments Hey all!!
I am Sarah and this is my second year doing this challenge. Last year I did dismal and hope to at least get 3/4's of the way to 104 if not obtaining the goal!!

I am a Human Resources Consultant, a wife, and a mom of three (3, 6 & 11). We live in Florida.

Looking forward to 2016!!

message 9: by Marissa (new)

Marissa | 33 comments Hello Everyone! I'm Marissa "Bionic Elbow," a stay-at-home-cat-mom and military wife that loves reading, tea, making lists, cooking & baking, and punctuation!

I'm pretty sure I joined this group last year or the year before and I'm absolutely HORRIBLE at updating Goodreads and staying on top of my reading so I'm trying to be more attentive this year :)

Not sure I will live up to 104 books; my personal goal is 55 books this year. If I can get to 80+, I'll be stoked!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone reads this year. Enjoy your adventures!

Welcome, Jayne! It's my personal mission to use my library more often this year.

So glad you're here!

Here's to 200 books in 2016, lol! You can do it, Aydrea!

Hi, Dammie! WHOA! If you read 104 books from April-December you'll surely get to 150 in 2016. Unless, you know, life gets in the way. :) Glad you're here!

Hello, Liza! I'd be lost without my audible account and probably would have fallen short of my reading goal without them. They totally count in this challenge.

I love the small group of people we have--keeps things on a more personal level and easily managed. Glad to have you here!

Hi, Ginny! I put off reading sci-fi for the longest time because I didn't think I'd like it. I picked up my first sci-fi books last year and LOVED them. A few were even in my top reads of the year. More sci-fi for me this year. Happy to have you in the group!

HAHA! There's always the new year to start all over again. Sometimes life just gets in the way and makes it impossible. Hope you hit your goal! Thanks for coming back for a second year!

Bionic Elbow! I hope to see you updating your Goodreads a lot this year. I love almost every book you love so I want to see more of what you're reading so I can love it, too! Thanks for coming back for more!

message 18: by Alissa (new)

Alissa I'm Alissa. Last year I surpassed the 104 and hit 132 but my goal was 150. So I'm aiming for 150 again.

I like keeping track to see how my tastes and patterns change and I like seeing what others are reading for recommendations

message 19: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 19 comments Hi I'm Nicole :) I'm 37 for the month lol... I'm a Paramedic, I work 3 days a week on a Ambulance for 16hr shifts.... I like to read just about anything but mostly Paranormal and YA... I also love anything related to any mythology

Thank you so much! Love Audible! 1/2 way through my second book—ECHO—another one that I'm reading for the library event. Plus I'm listening to the audio of X for the event, too. It's fantastic, and I'm thrilled to be branching out of my YA zone with some MG novels in the mix:)

A paramedic? I am in awe of you! Not a profession I could ever see myself doing, probably because of the blood, so all my admiration. :)

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary (mccanniff) | 44 comments Hi Everyone,
Thanks, Jen, for keeping this going - I love having this to record what I'm reading. I'm still teaching outside of Philadelphia, and last year we moved to be closer to my girls' school (age 12 and 6). It seriously cut into my reading time, so I'm hoping to rebound with this year - plus, more bookcases so my books aren't stuck in boxes! I enjoy some of almost all genres, so I always like checking out what others are reading.

message 23: by Becca (new)

Becca (beccasbookbites) Hi. I'm Rebecca. An elementary school librarian. I primarily read romances. I like all types: historical, paranormal, contemporary, futuristic.
I thought this might be cool as a smaller group. I'm doing the goodreads challenge as well because it's easily set up. Honestly not sure I'll remember to post each book here. My goal for that is 200 books. It's the same goal as 2015 because I didn't make it. I came so close at 198!

message 24: by Cristina (new)

Cristina (lycan731) | 3 comments Hello, my name is Cristina. I guess my challenge this year would be to post reviews of the books I read. I also decided to lower the number of books for my GR challenge since last year I was freaking out about making my goal. I mostly read YA and urban fantasy.

Autumn (Triquetra Reviews) (triquetrareviews) Hi everyone! I'm Autumn (formally known as Saleana) and I'm a full time student and I work part time at a dry cleaners on top of running my own business (http://www.etsy.com/shop/thepaganparcel). I also run Triquetra Reviews, although it's taken a back burner as has my reading when school and work get to be hectic.

I'm excited to be here and I'm aiming for 104 books for pleasure, on top of any reading I have to do for school. Eeegad. I'm tired already. ;)

message 26: by Claire (new)

Claire | 52 comments Well hello fellow readers.

This will be my fourth year hanging out here. Last year I just counted new books that I read, previously I had factored in rereads and audible. I had to stop this as it was getting embarrassing the number of times that I read/listened to the same books. Needless to say I have a very healthy audible library.

I'm married and have a 21 year old son. I'm hoping this year to make inroads on my TBR list, I'm not holding my breath.

Looking forward to a great year, there are some fabulous books on the horizon that I can't wait to open.

message 27: by Melinda (new)

Melinda G | 20 comments Hello my name is Melinda and I am new to this challenge but excited to be here. I work as a Team Lead in customer service and a single mom to 3 children 18, 15 and 11. We are a sports family so I do a lot of traveling and game watching but I would not have it any other way. I read all types of books but my favorite it Romance. I have a problem re reading my favorite books (lol). I read about 80 books last year however I did not get on here as often as I should to post. Thank you for the challenge.

message 28: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 19 comments Hi everyone~ my name is Lesley and I live in North Idaho where I teach child development courses at a community college. I have 4 adult children and 4 grandsons and a husband who loves to read almost as much as I do. I try to read a variety of books and read both printed books and listen to audio books. I like mysteries and suspense and I also enjoy reading YA and Newbery Award books. Weirdly, I also love reading cook books and sometimes I have to read college text books... now that is a challenge!
I LOVED being in this challenge the first five years but I had to take last year off. I only met the 104 challenge once, but I am ready to see what 2016 has waiting for me to read!

message 29: by Aimee (new)

Aimee Salter (aimeelsalter) | 1 comments Hi all, I'm Aimee - invited by Jennifer, who's my Best Book Friend ;) I'm an author with Alloy Entertainment, and an avid reader (mainly YA and NA, some historical and crime fiction). My challenge won't be reading 104 books, but remembering to review them on GR! Ha!

Hope you all have a great year :)

Aimee

message 30: by Lyssa (new)

Lyssa | 77 comments Hello again! I'm Lyssa, and this is my.... uhh....somethingth year participating in Jen's challenge. :) Lots of changes last year with jobs and housing, so reading took a back seat and I got nowhere near my goal. I adjusted down for this year, so we'll see what happens.

I'm a fan of sci fi, biographies/memoirs, travel writing and non-textbook science books.

message 31: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 29 comments Hi, 2016 Challengers! I'm Nanci. I sort of wondered if I should join in again this year. I have been joining the challenge since 2011. This last year I had a harder time remembering to list my books. When I remembered, It was hard to find time to give a good review of what I read. I had my daughter's family living with us for about 7 months and when you have your two-year old grandchild running around, it is much more fun to play and harder to find a time and place to read when a little voice comes to visit and wants to chat.
I have too much fun seeing what you all read so I had to join in again. My TBR shelf is over 200 now. I am hoping I can cut it down faster than I add to it this year.

message 32: by Erin (new)

Erin Brown (erinbrownwrites) | 13 comments Hi all!

I'm Erin, a writer of YA & NA indie books, professional editor, and consummate reader, though I'm setting my goal for 75 books and hoping that I get more writing done this year! So excited to be a part of this group!

198 books is SO IMPRESSIVE! :)

message 34: by Monica (last edited Jan 20, 2016 12:00PM) (new)

Monica (marticles) | 99 comments Hi, I'm Monica. I found this group through Jen, who I met at a Charlaine Harris book signing in Iowa.
I'm a media assistant at my local high school (which I love love love), so I will have lots of access to plenty of YA lit, which I have been ignoring in favor of Regency romance audiobooks lately (don't judge me!) I'm excited to get back into reading. I've just finished up an AAS degree in Library Information Technology, and going to school full time while also working and parenting full time left no room for fun reading. Let the wild (reading) rumpus begin!

message 35: by Deanne (new)

Deanne (deanne33) | 224 comments Hi everyone! I'm Deanne and I think this is my 3rd year doing the challenge! I love it because it keeps track of everything including my rereads which the GR challenge doesn't. I used to be a Children's Librarian but am now with the New Mexico State Library so I don't have the access to books like I used to but am still committed to reading as much as I can this year!

message 36: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin_schultz) | 5 comments Hey everyone! I'm Erin and I've been in this challenge for 3 years in a row. I think I succeeded twice. Not last year, though! Had a baby in June 2015. While I was able to read a lot in the early months (when she'd nap all day! LOL) not so much in the later months when I came back to work full time at the Minnesota Historical Society library.

I'm on a decent reading schedule again so hopefully I'll meet my goal of 75 books--but I'll always be shooting for 104! Can't wait to dig into my piles of books (and virtual piles of e-books) that have been building up over the last year. I'd also like to read more outside of my comfort zone (which is primarily YA).

message 37: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra Cooper (thetimeminer) | 1 comments Good Morning! I'm Cassandra and this is my first year. Having a Kindle has truly increased my assess to more books so I will be shooting for 100 books. I enjoy cozy mysteries, historical fiction, time slip, general fiction. Also non fiction. I must confess that I am usually reading at least 3 books at a time, all for a different reason. One for pleasure, one for self improvement and one for business. I'm always looking for suggestions for new books.

message 38: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 96 comments Hi I am Stacy and this (and the Seasonal Reading Challenge) is the first time I have done any challenge. I love books; I will read almost anything, except I really don't get into paranormal.
I am divorced, a mother of 8, and grandmother of 4, and beyond reading I enjoy cooking, crafts, gardening, diy, genealogy, and learning. I look forward to actually seeing how many books I can read this year. I have for several years written down in the front of a book when I started and finished, but I have never really kept track of how many I have read within a timeframe.

message 39: by Chris (last edited Sep 22, 2016 08:32PM) (new)

Chris Tennie (cltennie) | 5 comments Hi, my name is Chris and I'm obviously joining this group a bit late, but excited to try to read 104 books this year.

I'm married, a dad of 2 (both under 5), going to grad school, and working full-time.

Between work and school I had lost my way when I was younger in regard to reading for enjoyment and around 8 years ago made a concerted effort to make time for books in any way I could.

In general I tend to skew towards science fiction and fantasy, but usually have a mix of the classics thrown in as well.

I don't count any work or school books unless truly read from cover to cover, and of course I don't count the plethora of kids books read out loud every day. I am a pretty heavy audible user though.

Well I have read 108 so far & I think I may reach 110 at the very least by Dec 31st. I may need to get a life???
