I was just wondering when we are selecting the next book? Should we do a holiday one again?"
Thanks for keeping on top of this. With all the chaos of the Holiday season, I might forgotten to keep up with my reading in the new year without it, haha.
I like the idea of another Holiday book. Also, just to put a little variety out there, I'm going to suggest a Romance themed book for a secondary category, since it will likely carry into February for most of us. I'm not picky at all, so I'll read whatever's picked anyway.

Most of the selections have been books I wouldn't have chosen for myself. I love YA, but for some reason I never gravitate towards that section in bookstores or libraries. Even though we don't have the official club, I hope we can continue recommending and discussing books. I really like this group!

I kind of hoped more people would be willing to carry on even at times, like now, when Kristina is quite busy. I'm guessing everyone else has been somewhat busy as well, though (or they're just wanting to sit back and wait). Maybe if we keep this active, other people might join in.
YA is my #1 genre for sure but recently I've been reading a lot of books by Youtubers as well. Since most people here are definitely familiar with YouTube, maybe that would be a good second option.
Any specific suggestions?

If we're discussing potential YA books to read next, here are some suggestions of newer books that sound good.
The Way I Used to Be

This is about a girl who has to recover her sense of identity after being sexually assaulted (trigger warning for rape)
The First Time She Drowned

This one is about a young woman who enters the world as a free adult after her childhood in a mental institution.
Obviously both of these are super psychological and might be a little heavy, but I think they'll make for interesting discussion!

I've never read either of those, so they sound like good options to me. Also, any outlet to talk about serious issues in a positive, safe manner is a great thing.

We don't actually have any books for this year chosen yet, but feel free to suggest anything you would like to read! :)
Kristina (who runs everything normally, if you're not familiar) is currently busy with her job and other things in her life, so until she returns, a handful of us have just taken it upon ourselves to begin discussing options for what to read next to keep the group somewhat active.

It looks like we have about three options so far, all of which sound wonderful to me, so I have a couple of suggestions for where to go with them next.
The first option is that we start thinking about which one of the books mentioned is most accessible and appealing for the majority of us and decide which upcoming month we're going to start reading.
The second option is that Read Every Day in July is coming up and we could just try to read all three (or whichever one you want, if you're busy or a slower reader) and use that as a way to get them all in.
Of course, if anyone else has a better suggestion or these ideas don't work for them, there's plenty of room for discussion.

Would be happy with any selection, but that's my vote.

Both The First Time She Drowned and The Way I Used to Be are available at my local library and very easy for me to get.
I can buy My Name Is Leon, I would just need a little more time to get it than I would with the others.
