Sandy HELP!! I finally got the season #1 of "The Bridge" from the library & it's absolutely riveting. Episodes 1-9 had us on the edge of our seats so we anxiously sat down for the final one. The problem? Episode #10 is completely spoiled, apparently damaged so badly that none of it will play.
Can someone puhLEEZE tell me how it played out? It would start with Jens taking Martin's son after shooting Saga at Martin's house. I'd like to know who survived, the state of Martin's marriage, did they name a replacement for Hans? Anything would be much appreciated & quite possibly stop my head from exploding. So ticked!!

Diana | 29 comments Can you try to get it in Netflix or Amazon online? It's worth watching. I can tell you the ending, but if you have this alternative, it is worth watching.

Hi Diana. No, I have no other options available where I live. Gaah...it's driving us crazy so if you would be so kind as to spill the beans.......

First off, my details might be fuzzy as it was 6 months ago.
Saga survives and manages to figure out where Martins son is held (although not exactly as he is buried alive with deleting air, so race against time). They, without Martin look for and find his son (I don't remember the timing of finding and getting him out.
There is a standoff towards the end of the episode where Martin confronts Jens on the bridge. Jens has blamed Martin for destroying his family, this is his motivation, and I think he tells Martin that his son is dead. At this point, Saga is on the scene, pretty hurt from her wounds, but tries to keep Martin from killing Jens. So, while Jens is taunting Martin, with his son is dead, Saga finds it within herself to lie, saying they found him in time, trying to keep Martin from shooting Jens. Martin is about to shoot Jens; Saga tells him not to do that, it would destroy him, his career. Martin is undeterred, about to kill Jens, Saga shoots Martin to wound and keep him from shooting Jens. Martins son was found, too late, he had suffocated. This did affect Martins marriage, but I don't remember if we found out in this episode or the start of second series.

Diana | 29 comments Hans? Is that the boss? If so, I don't recall them finding a replacement for him...

message 6: by Diana (new)

Diana | 29 comments Oh, he blames Martin for destroying his family because Martin had an affair with Jens wife leading to her leaving Jens leading to a car accident which killed either the son or both of them.

Diana, you are now officially our favourite person. Yes, Hans was Saga's boss & one of the few who could overlook her little personality quirks.
One question...what became of of Jens? Was he killed or arrested?
I'm in the queue for season #2, hopefully it's in better shape. Many thanks!!

message 8: by Diana (new)

Diana | 29 comments Jens was arrested, and I think, unharmed.

message 9: by Diana (new)

Diana | 29 comments You're welcome! I know how frustrating it is to get non working DVDs from the library. I think Hans turns up in the next series.

Thanks, Sharon, but I didn't want to accidentally read any spoilers for the seasons to come. I knew my buddies on this site would come through with just the info I needed.

That's why I hate taking dvds out of the library. Just when you're really involved, the disc skips - super annoying.
Now I only take them out when they're new or I check the disc for deep scratches. If I see any significant scratches I take the disc back without bothering to watch it.

Honestly, it was like a bad joke. When I return it, I intend to tell the staff the same thing as you....they should remove it from shelves until they get a replacement for episode 10 as it's not fair to lend it in the current state.
Otherwise, what a great show, can't wait to get the next season.

I always tell them exactly where the disc skips. In one case, it was the last 10 mins of a George Gently mystery - very frustrating. Unfortunately they don't seem to do anything about it other than shrug their shoulders :-(

The Bridge creator reveals fourth season Halloween plot

The Bridge creator reveals fourth season Halloween plot
The creator behind Nordic Noir crime drama The Bridge has revealed part of the plot of the hyped fourth season of the global hit series.
Hans Rosenfeldt, the man behind one of Scandinavia's most successful cultural exports in recent years, let slip the gory details in the 'TV med Luuk' podcast with Swedish journalist Kristian Luuk.

Traditionally, the series (knows as 'Bron' or 'Broen') kicks off with a gruesome murder on either the Swedish or the Danish side of the famous bridge linking the two countries.

"It gets pretty nasty. This one is a bit smaller, not as large scale. It's on a smaller scale than in the third season, which was this staged thing with three mannequins and a victim. This one is smaller, but I would say that it's more frightening," Rosenfeldt was quoted by Aftonbladet as telling the podcast.

The Swedish writer told the podcast that the main storyline had been submitted to Swedish broadcaster SVT and that he was currently busy writing the first three episodes.

"It [the murder] takes place on Halloween. Halloween is big in some parts of Denmark. They go more 'all in' than Sweden, so it takes place in Denmark on the night of Halloween," he said.

Speculation about the fourth season of the show, based around Swedish detective Saga Norén (played by Sofia Helin), has been rife since the finale of the last series. Thure Lindhardt, who played Norén's Danish sidekick Henrik Sabroe in the third series, was also a hit with viewers.

Rosenfeldt revealed that both characters would be returning to fans' television screens.

Story continues below…
"Saga and Henrik will be back as well as the recurring characters. John, our computer guy, and our two Swedish and Danish police chiefs will return. The rest is all new," he said.

He did not comment on whether or not the show would see a return of Helin's original co-star, Copenhagen-born actor Kim Bodnia, who quit after the second season because he did not like the way his character developed, but has not ruled out making a comeback.

Rats! Only works in the UK. Will have to wait for its release in N.A.
:-(

Barbara Purington | 32 comments There's a legal way to subscribe to BBC Four in N.A. by obtaining an international email address. Look on Google. I learned this when Iceland's "Trapped" made its debut last winter, but didn't follow through. I am sure someone here can explain it better.

Amazon usually carries the box sets. Amazon Prime streaming may have some.
Also many friends of mine in Canada use their various public library and order in international series box sets with excellent success.....give it a try.
Netflix carries lots. Keep asking them if you want certain choices...may work!

They have the second season now but there are so many holds it will take me a year to get it - by then we'll have the 3rd season here!

Are you aware that an Amazon account is just that an account that can, in many instances, be used for other amazons?!? My account is handy. I prefer Amazon Germany as usually no shipping and they gave what I am looking for but when I want English sub titles and they don't have an item, I switch and log in to Amazon UK order the series box set or films I want c/w English or books. When I want to read Kindle and the rare time the book is not on iBook iTunes I log in with my account to Amazon.com.....presto! There are only rare items that they will not ship to me and so far that's usually cosmetics or sports gear....
Another tip. Many things are available on Netflix but occasionally it takes creative searching and I get much better line up and results adding to my list searching on iPhone iPad or PC rather than on the smart tv....... List populates and works fine.

Andrea O'Neill | 19 comments I am in Vermont, and I watch BBC channels from UK directly by using a Tunnelbear ap. It is not that expensive, less than 30.00 a year (if that). It takes less than 5 minutes to purchase and download. Sharon always keeps me informed as to what programs to look for!
