Chapter 2 - (view spoiler)[ It's kinda scary shes going to Paris with a stranger. I mean, hasn't she seen the movie Taken? But oh well, Willem is cute and he's Dutch too! <3 (hide spoiler)]

So, we finished "And the mountains Echoed" just in time for this one :D .

Chapter 2
(view spoiler)[So far I'm a little bored and I don't like how stereotypical the characters are. She's plain and curvless (duh), he's cute and mysterious and ready for adventure (aha...), her best friend is a blonde bombshell that is self-centered and doesn't acknowledge our main heroine inner beauty (right, because everyone in America needs a best friend that discredits them...)

But oh well, Willem is cute and he's Dutch too!

Right, because rapists and sociopaths never are cute... First impression can be deceiving. This beginning was a little far fetched. If she was older I would have understood, but a teenager doing that. It's a little incredible and not in the right way. (hide spoiler)]

I'm sorry, I just had to drop this... Read it till ch 11 and decided this book is not for me.

It's like the most self-pitting, cliche, american girl on the planet meet the most gorgeous, fun to be around, adventurous guy on the planet. This is like Anna and the French kiss without the credible part. What's worse is that the entire book happens in about 2-3 days. Allyson(Anna) spends those days falling for a guy she knows she should not. She goes from self-damnation (she is the most unattractive, the most boring and undesirable person on the planet) to feeling jealous of all the girls Willem looks at or even the ones who just look at him. And they all have model-like features. Like ugly girls are not allowed to look at good looking guys or something.

In short this book is something like this: drooling after Willem -> self pity -> getting jealous on all the girls he looks at -> stop and repeat.

No thank you!

Did I mention how boring the combination above was? This was supposed to be a book about a fun day in Paris, but it didn't feel like that at all <.<.

20% End of chapter 6 - (view spoiler)[I see how this could easily be disappointing for some readers. And I also get how obnoxious Allyson is for her non-stop self-pitying. But she's 18 and I remember when I was a teenager, (which was like last year lol) I also have gone through this annoying phase. I remember how insecure I get being with the guy I like. Like how every move he does would mean something to me. Now, I do find it ridiculous that I acted that way but don't we all go through that phase? Being annoying? Or was it just me? xD (hide spoiler)]

Probably. It does not change the fact that it annoys me to no end. She repeats this about herself every other chapter. Like her greatest hobby is to find flaws in herself...

34% end of chapter 11 - Okay now I see why Tessa stopped reading lol. I tried to understand her at first but there's so much wrong with this girl lol.

(view spoiler)[First, like what Sophie said, why is Allyson acting up like she's the girlfriend of Willem? She's always jealous every time a girl or group of girls appear and talk to Willem. Like gurl? Do you own him?

Second, her supply of jealousy and self-pity is unlimited! And I wonder where these negative emotions are all coming from. She looks like Louise Brooks for chrissake! Why the constant self-pitying and jealousy???

Third, I can feel us kissing already. I can feel his lips all over me. I can feel the jut of his sharp hipbones against me. Lol gurl! You met this guy hours ago and you're having crazy sexual thoughts about him, just calm down! (hide spoiler)]

39% end of chapter 13 - (view spoiler)[WHAT JUST HAPPENED????There's no explanation for this like really where did Willem go? With Allyson's watch?? And he just left her there naked?? What an asshat! >.< (hide spoiler)]

59% end of chapter 21 - (view spoiler)[Ugh Allyson is so miserable. I can't understand her obsession with Willem. And she's always lying (to her parents, to her friends, to Dee) which complicates things. 40% more and the book's over and I haven't seen a single sign of character development. Please let this annoying phase be over. (hide spoiler)]

72% end of chapter 26 - (view spoiler)[I can't believe she's really going to Paris to look for Willem. She's so crazy about him it's crazy. XD But at least there has been some improvements. She's finally telling the truth to Dee, other friends and her parents. Her mom is a control freak no wonder Allyson's being rebellious suddenly. But her parents don't deserve this too. A nicer way of talking to them and explaining what really happened would lessen the exchange of spiteful words. (hide spoiler)]

@Tessa - Yea. This book is such a disappointment. I loved If I Stay and Where She Went but with this one.. I dunno. I heard Just One Year is even worse. I gave it a chance but I'm now at 72% and it's still annoying. I'm just continuing it now for the sake of finishing it.

@Sophie - There has been some improvements around chapter 26. I know, too far for some changes.. but it's starting to get less annoying in terms of Allyson being hateful to everyone. (view spoiler)[ Still don't know what happened to Willem (hide spoiler)] so I might as well continue reading.

Yes, I saw that as well and it had a vague ending. So the author is releasing an extra novella for the series. I, right now, couldn't care less what happened to those 2. Crazy, non-realistic stories are so not for me ^^.

Okay guys. I just finished it. :D I was sorta happy because finally Allyson was less annoying by the end.. BUT (view spoiler)[ my god the ending? Can you even call that an ending? It took me a lot of time trying to convince myself to continue reading this book but what did I get? A major cliffhanger!!! (hide spoiler)]

Finished this earlier. I didn't like it :( It ended with a CLIFFHANGER! But I'll still read Just One Year. I want to know the guy's POV, (view spoiler)[and what exactly happened to Willem. I'm supposed to find him sexy, charming, and swoony but sadly, I did not!!! (hide spoiler)]

I might not like this too. It was a slow read to me.. I think I'm having a reading slump.

Anyone noticed how sad and gloomy the mood of the book is? I don't know why but in my opinion it's supposed to depict a lightness or fun to it... Maybe it's just my preferrence but I just cannot take the mood.

Oh no! I was hoping it was gonna be a light, fun book! :(

yeah, it's also slow :( I find it hard to sympathize with either Allyson or Willem. Willem, particularly.

It got ups and downs. I'm in a really slow pace read.
