Pam Lauman | 42 comments I finished my first book of the climb towards the heights of Mount Ararat! It was very short since over half the book is made up of recipes which look good but I know I will never make. Cinnamon Roll Murders was the first book that I've read of Joanne Flukes. I doubt I read more. It wasn't bad just too much fluff.

Great Job!

Heyer is great--I love both her Regency Romances and her mysteries.

I just read Major Pettigrew's Last Stand last year for the climb.

Pam Lauman | 42 comments I cannot believe it has been over a month since I posted here! We put our house on the market and had a contract in less than a week. Now comes the tension of hoping all goes through plus packing and looking for a temporary rental. AAAYYY! What to do with all my books?? I have managed to listen to some audiobooks and I realize more than ever, the importance of purging my TBR pile

message 38: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Even with a month's absence, you are still ahead of me! Congrats on selling your house so quickly & good luck with the move.

Pam Lauman | 42 comments I am finally getting back to recording the books I've read. July was spent reading, purging, and packing my books (plus the rest of the house!). I discarded over 1200 books and reread most of my children's books before discarding them. It was wonderful to pass them on to others to love. We moved in mid August and are happily settled in our new home. I'm finally getting back to a routine of reading so hope to be on track. I did not count all the books I read during this process since so many were shorter children's books. I did count several with over 100 pages. Here is my latest list.

33. Beekeeping for Beginners by Laurie R. King-iBook 5/9/16
34. The Library by Scott Douglas-iBook 5/19/16
35. The Kidnapping by Charles Todd-iBook 5/21/16
36. The Devil's Gold by Steve Berry-iBook 5/23/16
37. The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen-Paperback 7/25/16
38. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli-Paperback 7/26/16
39. How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell 7/26/16
40. A Dangerous Place by Jacqueline Winspear-Paperback 9/8/16
41. Tell Me a Riddle by Tillie Olsen-Paperback 9/30/16

Susan | 23 comments I nearly fainted when you wrote you had discarded over 1200 books! Then I recalled the purge of my children's rooms this summer. They're all adults now and together we cleaned off their bookshelves. I would guess we gave away at least 250 books. The bonus for me was that my own books got to come out from under the bed and various nooks and crannies to go on the empty bookshelves. I haven't counted, but I am sure there are more than 500 books, all of which I intend to read before we even think about moving.

message 45: by Pam (new)

Pam Lauman | 42 comments Susan, it was so freeing to discard so many books. I loved them but had read most and was able to pass them on without regrets! I am becoming pickier on which books to keep after I've read them.
