Oh poor Jon feeling all sad and black sheep. Catelyn can certainly be
less of a bee-otch to him. I want to give Jon a great big hug. I understand why he wants to go to the wall with his Uncle. I would too.

I have always been angry at the way she treats him, as if it was his fault and not Ned's, that he was born. It's a disgusting aspect of the culture.

Theon does not like Jon.
I wonder why Ghost is so different from the other direwolves and if ts an important reason.
If Jon has more of the North is him could his mom possibly be from the North as well?
I like Tyrion. He is honest and kind of snarky!

Great theory! I wonder whether the series will ever expand on that....

Brianna (bebecburt) | 562 comments @Leslie: He really does! I think he's one of my favorites because of this. I love snark lol.
@Terry: I've technically read the first 3 books and I know it isn't really expanded on (that I've noticed) in those. I've also seen the show and it's not touched on. I wonder if it's just not important or if it'll be a big twist at some point.

Brianna (bebecburt) | 562 comments I've seen that theory floating around and it appears to have a lot of possible hints in the books. It's just not set in stone so I'm leaving all options open until the truth is finally revealed!

I have read up to book 5 and it was never mentioned ( or at least I didn't pick up on it.)but I still think it is a good theory.

Well, if the Lyanna theory is really true, it'll definitely be a plot twist. But in any case, I want to know who Jon's mother is, even if the truth is boring. I would really hate Martin if he left such a mystery unrevealed.
Also, do you know the story behind the TV show? There had been many teams wanting to produce a TV show based on ASoIaF, but Martin always refused, because he thought they didn't know enough about the books to make a good interpretation. So when the producers of the show asked him for permission, he only asked them one question: "Who is Jon's mother?" And, apparently they answered correctly. So that leads me to the thought that the Lyanna theory is true.

I know it is mentioned at the begining of the 1st book, but I don't remember her name. It has to be in one of the early Stark chapters...

Yes, there are actually other names mentioned too, in the later books, but these are just the theories of the characters. Technically, Eddard is the only one who knows. I don't know, maybe I just want it to be something exciting too much and am looking for a calf under the ox.

Chappy | 8 comments if Jon is the son of Rhaegar which is the theory i tend to follow, it does make him the true king of Westeros, as his father was next in line for the throne after the mad king.
as for the powers of the north, i believe it is more than coincidence that the number of direwolf pups found is the same number of stark children and one smaller outcast to represent jon who is half stark.
the direwolves have larger parts to play as the story progresses and by carefully reading the actions of the direwolves you can see a bit of each stark childs personality in them.
