She definitely is a good voice of reason for Ned.
Ned probably has some resentment about everything. He wasn't supposed to be in charge or have to make these kinds of decisions.
Who left the lens & message? I don't recall it being revealed later on.
If the last hand of the king was murdered why would she want her husband to become the new one?
Understandable why he doesn't want to head south due to what happened to his brother and father. I'm not really okay with Catelyn basically making him go when obviously he doesn't want to/shouldn't.
I wonder why he doesn't want there to be any talk about Ashara Dayne.
When it comes to Jon Snow she's rather selfish. She doesn't want anything to do with him, doesn't want his future family to possibly interfere with her own, and is jealous he looks more like Ned than her own kids. Poor Jon!

Lysa left the message. And, to be honest, I've always thought it was Ned who made the decision, completely on his own, despite knowing he shouldn't. Hm. I should probably read this a third time.

From what I understood was that Ned really did not want to go. Then Catelyn gets the message and basically starts making comments about how he needs to go to find out what really happened. He may have made the final decision, but she definitely did nudge him into it. (I think...)

Chappy | 8 comments I believe in the end Ned would have felt honor bound to take the position as Hand of the King. Another man could have done the job but Robert made it plain that given their history, no man would make a better Hand then the man who helped Robert gain the iron throne. As well as being childhood best friends and rebellion buddies.

Omar Foster | 44 comments Catelyn comes across so much smarter in the books. When her mind isn't clouded with emotions she makes the right decisions
Also, I never realised how much of the Jon Snow parentage groundwork was laid in these few opening chapters. "He is my blood" kinda tells you everything
