I loved that we didn't get Victor's pov until chapter 8. I think it it really, strangely, strengthened his mysteriousness that we only had Sarai's thoughts up until then.
The beginning is paced so well because it keeps pulling you along that you don't want to stop reading!
My favorite part so far is the conversations between Sarai and Victor, especially in the very beginning where you can tell he really doesn't want to talk to her, haha.

The action. My goodness, it puts me on the edge of my seat.

This book completely sucked me in and it refuses to let go. I wasn't expecting such a strong and well-paced story, and I have absolutely no idea where this is going, but I'm eager to find out!

Favorite quote:
"Why are we going to Tucson?"
He stops mid-stride and turns around to face me.
"I'm taking you home."

I completely agree on Victor's POV adding mysteriousness. Also, how satisfying was it to see Izel hit by a bullet (sorry to say that, but she was hideous).

Lydia's death was quite unexpected for me, but I guess it makes sense being it a suspense/thriller story. I also agree on the fact that a love story now would be too soon. I like their subtle attraction, but I hope the romance will start a little bit further into the book.

I agree on the running part - totally worth skipping one (or more) day(s) to read! Regarding the future developments of the book, I foresee Sarai (wow, for a moment I forgot her name here, even if it's in the title - I must be really tired) joining the Order and help take down Javier's organization (?).

The first 50% of the book is a new theme for me. As I have never read a book with this subj matter (escaping and being on the run {with a killer non-the-less}). Thus, I was engaged immediately!
I found it interesting that Victor did not notice the door light (or maybe he did?) when she was hiding out in his car. I was holding my breath the entire escape sequence.
Going in, I didn't want to know so much, and I'm glad I didn't snoop. I love it so far! I just got to chapter 10, and I have a feeling I'm going to be finishing this book late tonight. I'm so glad to pick up something that isn't YA (because YA is what I usually read, and I'm definitely growing out of it) because I can see that I love other books--with characters closer to my own age.
Gah. So excited for this series.
