Like a arrow to my heart.
Also when he left the safe house I KNEW something was going to happen , there is no way something wants going to. AND LOW AND BEHOLD the drug lord shows up. Oh man I was on the edge of my seat during that scene.

Agreed! It's so easy to love Victor getting his perspective. Even if he thinks of himself as an unemotional bastard, we all see the truth, the good in him.
Though at Chap. 23, knowing what we know by the future book titles, I don't think Niklas is what he seems either.

YESSS. I love how slow burn it is. The first third of the book is all about their indifference to each of that I love that so much. And then slowly ;DDD

I definitely enjoyed the development of their characters.
Though I'm struggling a little with Sarai's desire to join the order without understanding who they are as an organization for no other reason but to be close to Victor.
Then again, he's the first man she's chosen to love and care about since she was 14.

It breaks my heart that Sarai is in such a desperate way to find her place after being captive. But, as Sarai found out, going home is not always what dreams are made of.
I am confused about who shot Laney? Was it Victor? I had thought the entire time that Laney was the important daughter they were trying to rescue...so when she died...heart breaking! So, I thought Victor killed Laney and if I 'm right then I'm shocked that Sarai was able to get over it and not berate Victor more than she did
I was very proud of Sarai for standing up to Javier and ultimately being the demise of him!

Interesting concept. I didn't even think about it. Just felt sad that Sarai lost her one friend. But it is definitely possible that Laney is the important daughter. Hmmm....
I just finished this thing.
And I'm in withdrawls.
I KNEW the moment that she was with Dina at the end that something was going to happen, but I wasn't expecting that...and now I fully expect in Reviving Izabel for Sarai to go after Arthur herself. I'm just upset that she lost Victor--the one true friend that she had.
