I think a big part of success is voicing where you see yourself in the future. So tell me, what goals/dreams/aspirations do you have for yourself? :)

message 2: by Steven (new)

Steven Freeman | 13 comments Through my work, I'd like others to experience the same emotional highs and lows we all experience when lost in a good book.

I'd also like more than one person in my large family to actually read what I've written.

Hamid Karima | 24 comments I'd like to write and publish what's in my head and to cause some changes to this world.
((One day a man decided to change the world, he tried for years, but he found he couldn't do it. He thought that's better to change his city, but again he was defeated. He tried to emend his family's members, yet he wasn't able. At last when his time had been ended, he told regretfully; "If I had changed myself, then this could have affected my family, some people of my city and some other people of the world."))
(I've forgotten where I've heard this story.)

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 390 comments My main goal right now is to publish my first book, and get to work on the next one. It has taken waaayyy too long. My long term goal is to make enough money writing to do it full time. If I wrote full time I could get a lot more done.

message 5: by Hamid (new)

Hamid Karima | 24 comments @Brian, I hope you'll get prosperous on your way,

message 6: by Karey (new)

Karey To truly live the writer's life. Fans who LOVE the stories I write. Fan pages started by fans. A line of people at a book signing. Hell, for that matter, a book signing.
And all this enabling me to have zero debt.
So I can write full-time.
The ultimate?
PETER JACKSON CALLS ME FOR MOVIE RIGHTS. Squuueeeeee!!!
what?

@Steven That's a good one! And I think I know what everyones getting for christmas :p

@Hamid Change is always good ^^ It takes someone really special to see where change is needed and to make it happen :) That's a nice little story ^^ Thanks for sharing.

@Brian that would be the dream! I know you'll get there. A little patience now buys a whole lotta time later ;)

@Karey Haha! That will be fantastic when it happens! Do be sure to save a spot for me in the front of the line during your book signing :)

message 8: by Brian (new)

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 390 comments @Nicole The writing is going to get done. My characters demand to be played with. ;)

message 9: by P.D. (new)

P.D. Workman (pdworkman) My goal is that in five years, when my boss retires (we've been working together for 20 years) that I will be making an income from my writing. At this point, I don't know whether it will be a full-time income capable of supporting my family or not, but I'm not waiting five years to start!

I have supplementary goals and milestones along the way. It's more of a plan than a dream.

Like everyone, in the future, I'd like to live off just writing.

But I'd also really like to expand the Twitterling community, especially over this summer :3

message 12: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinscobee) | 5 comments I tend not to dream big and inherited a crippling need for false humility from pretty much every female ancestor in my family line. This does not bode well for a future as a writer.

My immediate aspiration is to have someone (preferably someone who didn't wipe my butt when I was a baby) read one of my novels and say, "Wow...you wrote that? That could be an actual book! Like the kind you could check out from the library!"

My long term goal would be for an agent or a publisher to say, "Needs work but I'm willing to give you a shot. Sign here."

My ultimate dream would be to see my series in print. I could die happy if that happened. Er...well, I could begin work on the next series, which is just as good.

I love to dream big but of course there are always doubts. We wouldn't be human if we didn't doubt our own abilities. Maybe those doubts can be a positive rather than a negative force, enabling us to produce our very best work. Our fiercest critics are ourselves.

message 14: by J. David (new)

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments My current goal is to wrap up my first series this year and start on the next. I'd say my largest dream or aspiration is to make enough money to live doing what I love to do, which is write these books. I don't need to be famous or wealthy, just make enough to keep doing it.

message 15: by Denise (new)

Denise | 25 comments I dream of writing full time and being financially secure. And I want to help change the sometimes negative perception of self-published novels.

message 26: by James (new)

James McCormick I would be more than happy if I could do my lecturing job part time (instead of full time) and the rest make a living from prose, script writing and reviews.

Outside of writing my goal is to get back to drawing and start painting (never painted an oil picture in my life!)Just want to be at the top of Maslow's pyramid.

message 27: by Trevor (new)

Trevor Cullum | 12 comments Finally get a royalty cheque from Amazon, that would be nice. At just over 20p. a book it's going to take a while. Of the 4 listed RANA is doing well - I wrote it in the 1980's. Should got off my backside years ago and not wasted 20 years.

@James A get to those Oils! Nothing like painting in oils. It makes me feel like a renaissance artist :P

Keep going and you'll get there, Trevor :3
