Clara 1-Tyrion is out in the city, with Bronn by his side, near the King’s Gate. They saw unhappy people, and of course they were, everything was burned. Although I liked Tyrion meant to rebuild what he destroyed. Kevan was supposed to do so, but after he got the letter telling of Willem’s death, and with Martyn captive and Lancel not getting better, he was no apt to do so. I guess he was really sad and couldn’t do it, or Tywin cares about him and didn’t tell him to do his job anyway, which I guess would have done with Tyrion.

2-Littlefinger sailed away to marry Lysa, and Tyrion wonder how he’ll get the gold to rebuild it. And they had to reopen the river, so he had to find the gold. Besides this problem, Sansa was still a maid, and half the castle knew and laughed. She was not helping either, but he wouldn’t stop being ugly and a Lannister. I really like he is not pushing her, and I hope Sansa appreciates it. Still, he wanted her, and Winterfell, but for what he thought he wanted more than just her body. I liked he wanted to make her laugh, and hear her sorrows and pretty much know her. I really hope they end up loving each other!

3-Tyrion wanted to tell Shae himself, so he saw her the night before his weeding, but she already knew. Shae heard a page saying so, even before Sansa knew. For some reason I don’t think Varys told her. She was not so shocked or mad though, Shae told him he would come back to her anyway. It’s sad he thinks Shae is the only love he’ll have, and I really hope it’s not like that! He is a good guy, he deserves better.

4-I forgot despite all the food the Tyrells gave, the prices were really high, and people bought anyway. Although I guess the people buying were the ones rich enough to do so, I don’t think a lot of the poor who had nothing made it after the battle.

5-Tyrion and Bronn go to a wine sink, Tyrion has 30 dragons to pay for Symon Silver Tongue’s silence about Shae. He noticed the singer was not as scared as he might had been once, which is not a good sign. Tyrion tells him to go and do a tour in the Free Cities, and Symon sang a song he made about Tyrion and Shae. Tyrion told him to never sing it again, and the singer said maybe Cersei or Tywin would like it better. Turns out Symon wants to sing in the tournament of singers at the weeding. All the places are full, but he suggests something can happen to one of them and he could take his place. Tyrion tells him it’ll happen; Symon told him if he doesn’t sing at the weeding, he’ll sing the song he made about Tyrion. Maybe he thought Tyrion wasn’t dangerous because he threatened him once and didn’t’ do anything after. Outside, he tells Bronn to tell the singer one of the other wouldn’t be able to sing, and to kill him when Symon goes to him. He’s a big threat, and it’s not like Tyrion loved the man.

6-Tywin called Tyrion, and he showed him a beautiful sword that was Joffrey’s weeding gift. It does sounds so cool and beautiful. It shimmered black and red, how awesome is that? When Tyrion grabbed it he noted it was light, and knew it was made of Valyrian steel. I forgot the Lannisters haven’t had a sword of Valyrian steel for a long time, and Tywin was never happy about it. There were about 1000 swords like that in the world, and maybe 200 in the Seven Kingdoms, but they were really expensive.

7-Armorers didn’t know anymore how the make swords of Valyrian steel, but they could rework it, and that happened here. Interesting they look almost black, and how the steel remembers. The armorer had to do so much shit to make it look red, although Tywin asked for it to be crimson. But I guess he liked it red.

8-The armorer did two swords, one thicker and heavier, for Jaime of course. Tywin doesn’t know of course his son lost his hand, and I would be so pissed if I was Jaime, it sounds like a sword he would have loved to use. Tywin asks the armorer for rubies for the scabbard, wow. He just went for as much as he could get. Tywin would get them back before the weeding. Tyrion says he didn’t even get a dagger, and his father told him he could get one from the armory. I forgot Robert only used a hunting knife Jon Arryn gave him when he was a kid. I wonder if Jon gave Ned one as well.

9-Tywin asks about the port, and Tyrion tells him is pretty much fucked and he doesn’t know how he’ll get the gold. The crown’s debt it quite big, and Tywin of course won’t forget the throne’s debt. And Cersei said the crown would pay for half the weeding, so he had to worry about that as well. He told his son he’ll find another Master of Coin if he can’t find the gold. But Tyrion didn’t want to be dismissed so early, lol, so he says he’ll get it. I don’t remember how or if he did it though.

10-His father moves to another matter, and tells Tyrion to bed Sansa. He replies she’s too young, but Tywin told him she was old enough to be the Lady of Winterfell when Robb dies. He sounds really confident about it, I’m pretty sure I didn’t note it before. I forgot it the marriage wasn’t consummated, it can be set aside, but only by a High Septon or the Council of Faith, whatever that is. But it seems like a rare thing though.

11-Turns out Mace refused to marry his son Willas to Cersei, and Tyrion’s mood was instantly better, lol. His mother made him change his mind, she said Cersei was too old and used. That burn though! Lol, it was great. Of course Cersei doesn’t know, and Tywin meant it to keep it that way. I would love to see her reaction to that though, it would be so funny! Her father still meant to marry her, but doesn’t know with who now, lol.

12-Pycelle walks in, and he brings a letter from Castle Black, written by Bowen Marsh. He wrote the wildlings were marching to the south in vast numbers. Tywin said the north beyond the Wall can’t support vast numbers of people, what the hell does he know? But I guess a lot of people think like him. The letter also said Mormont was attacked, and was probably dead; the Wall would probably be attacked soon as well. But a mistake (although I might see it as an excuse) was the letter was written for the five kings, and Tywin said there was only one. He wants to control everything, and says Janos Slynt will be a good Lord Commander if Mormont is dead. Plus, if they picked another one he wouldn’t send men like ever. Tyrion didn’t like that at all and opposed to the idea, but Tywin didn’t give a shit. Tywin told Pycelle to write Joffrey couldn’t spare men at the moment, and to write indirectly Janos would be a good choice. Tyrion thinks he should have killed Pycelle and Slynt when he had the chance. But he was learning now, and proved it with the singer. I hope he doesn’t end up like his father though.

Vicki Kalb | 310 comments Your point 11, you'd think Cersei would be happy she doesn't have to marry Willas, the cripple. But of course she would have to appear offended if she knew. Tywin had hoped to strengthen the two houses, Lannister and Tyrell, even more. Now he has to come up with another plan.

Your point 12, I hope he doesn't end up like his father either. It is way too easy to tumble on that slippery slope of assuming your way is always right and become a tyrant, murdering everyone that does something you don't like. That's why there's a council.

1. King’s Landing is healing after the battle. People are already selling their wares where once there was nothing but rubble. These people just hate Tyrion, who saved their fucking lives. I’m wondering how much of it is him they hate verses hating Lannisters period. He’s taking on the task of rebuilding for his Uncle Kevan, who is distraught about his son, Willem’s murder, up in the riverlands. Tyrion’s job is master of coin anyway, so this task makes sense to fall to him. It’s going to be expensive, though.

2. So far Tyrion has not consummated his marriage and somehow the entire castle is aware of this. I’m not sure I want to know how, lol. The only person who doesn’t think it’s funny is Sansa, but I have to say, he risks a lot for her. He thinks she hates him but I don’t think so. She doesn’t trust anyone anymore. Interesting they both have to wear clothes at night. So she doesn’t have to see Tyrion’s hideous body, and so Tyrion can’t be tempted. He is surprised he wants her, and not simply for sex. I like that he wants to comfort her and make her laugh. It makes me like Tyrion all the more. Ugh, Shae doesn’t care that he’s married, of course. She’s a whore. A part of him was hoping she’d be jealous or something, but of course not. Why would she give a damn. She gets paid to fuck unhappy husbands.

3. I like that Tyrion offers coins to the poor. Now that the Tyrells are bringing in food people are desperate for cash to pay for it. Prices are still very high, for some reason.

4. Bronn escorts him to a shady part of town to deal with Symon Silver Tongue. The man used to be frightened of Tyrion but not anymore, it seems. He tells the man to leave the country. He’ll even pay him. Symon sings of him and Shae, basically; he’s too dangerous to keep around. He even threatens to “sing” for his sister and father. Wow, the confidence. Something’s up. The man wants to sing in a tourney at Joff’s wedding feast. If he goes to that he says he will keep quiet. Problem is, there must only be seven singers, so Tyrion’s going to have to find a way to get rid of one of them to squeeze Symon in. Afterward Tyrion more or less tells Bronn to make quick work of Symon Silver Tongue. This conversation reminds me of Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, lol.

5. When he gets back to the castle Lord Tywin wants to see him. He wonders what he’s done now. His father never calls on him simply for company. He walks in on Tywin with an armorer and a newly forged longsword, gilded with rubies and pommel is in the shape of a lion, it has Lannister written all over it. He says it’s a wedding gift for Joffrey. It’s made of Valyrian steel, too. Incredibly rare. The blade shimmers black and red. I like how Tyrion says that’s much too much sword for Joff, lol. There are thousands of Valyrian steel blades left in the world, and only about 200 in the Seven Kingdoms. A long time ago a Lannister king lost their family sword, Brightroar, when he went to Valyria on a fool’s quest and never came back. They say the place is haunted. His name was Tommen, too. How interesting. I forgot Tyrion had an Uncle Gery who went to Valyria eight years ago to recover the sword and never came back either. Tywin has so many siblings... Tywin had been searching for a replacement now for a long time but no one was willing to sell their family sword. Tyrion thinks this sword’s color is strange. It has red in it when Valyrian steel is supposed to be a dark grey. The armorer says Tywin wanted the sword to be red but the Valyrian steel is stubborn so it’s a mixed pattern, not blended.

6. There’s two longswords, actually. Both look the same, one being slightly bigger than Joff’s, with the same weird red and black pattern. Targaryen colors. This one’s hilt is not as ornate as Joff’s but both have lion pommels and studded rubies. Tyrion is impressed. Tywin says this sword is for Jaime. Ha! He has no sword-hand! Tywin must be pretty confident that Jaime won’t die if he had it made for him. The armorer is Master Mott, Gendry’s old master.

7. Tyrion informs his father the things they’ll need to do to get the Blackwater river flowing again, as well as other repairs. I’m surprised Tywin refuses to spend a single penny on any of this with Lannister gold, not even the wedding. Tyrion says the treasury has no money but Tywin says Littlefinger’s accounts say their income is ten times better than it was when Aerys reigned. But at least Aerys had money in the treasury. Tywin refuses to forgive the debt the capital owes House Lannister either, damn. Tyrion suggests they cut costs on the wedding then; he is like-minded as Ned Stark on that matter. But I guess Tywin is more like Cersei and Robert in that extravagance is more important. Gods, Tywin doesn’t want the Tyrells to think the Lannisters are niggardly. Who the fuck cares? You still have people starving outside your walls... Tywin’s response is he’ll find a master of coin who will find the money if Tyrion can’t manage it. Of course he would never take Tyrion’s advice. He never does.

8. Also, Tywin reminds him to consummate his marriage. Tyrion wants to know why he cares so much and says she’s still too young. Tywin just wants Winterfell. I don’t see what the hurry is. The ironborn are still fighting up there.

9. Mace Tyrell actually refused to marry Willas to Cersei. This just got interesting, lol. Tywin says it’s his mother’s fault, the Queen of Thorns. She whispers words into his ears and tells him what to say and do. He commands Tyrion never to speak of the proposed offer. They’re going to have to find Cersei another husband.

10. Pycelle enters and lol, is not pleased that Tyrion is there. He informs them there’s a raven from Castle Black. They report a mass amount of wildlings moving south and Lord Mormont and his men were attacked in the Haunted Forest. Bowen Marsh, the writer, pleads all five kings for more men to stop the wildlings. Of course Tywin is insulted that they recognize five different kings when there should only be Joffrey. Pycelle defends them, saying the Wall is so far up north they are the last to hear anything. Tywin calls the Night’s Watch a bunch of thieves, rapers, and murderers, which is true most are, and Tywin has the audacity to say if they don’t vote in Janos Slynt as their new Lord Commander then they’ll never get another recruit from them. That is completely against the law. It is easy for Tywin not to care because if the Wall ever is breached, King’s Landing will be the last to feel it. Only, it’s not the wildlings they should be worried about. Unfortunately, Tywin won’t be able to make use of Mallister from the Shadow Tower, or an ironborn from Eastwatch. He likes tools such as Slynt who can be bought to do anything he wants, Tywin just pisses me the fuck off. He wouldn’t be nearly as powerful if he wasn’t lord to the richest house in Westeros. It would be deeply satisfying if a white walker stabbed him several times over. He wants Bowen Marsh to get chummy with Janos Slynt, the tool that he is. Tyrion wishes he’d killed Slynt instead of banishing him to the Wall now. Same with Pycelle. At least he “learned his lesson” by ordering Symon Silver Tongue’s death. Sometimes you have to resort to murder in order to get what you want, although I sometimes doubt the wisdom in this, especially if you can’t do it yourself.

Clara I think even though Cersei didn't want to marry anyone, she would feel offended she was rejected. I don't think it would cross her mind someone can say no to marry her. I think she would be glad and mad at the same time.

About your point 2, I think I got the idea in one of Tyrion's chapter he was in love with Shae. And maybe because of that he doesn't want to see how she really is, even though he keeps telling himself she is a whore. I am think now she just went to him like nothing happened. I mean, she assumed he still wanted her, even though he was married. I don't like her at all.

About your point 10, it's interesting what you say. I think it's way easier to send someone to kill whoever is bothering the characters. I don't know if Tyrion would have find it difficult to go and kill the singer, but I have an idea he would. He doesn't like the singer at all, but it's different when you kill the person. But Tyrion definitely needed to make sure Symon didn't talk, and I guess he saw no other way out. He tried to buy the man first, and I think it's good he didn't just go for the kill.
