Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) Bryan, here is your new thread in 2016. Happy reading in the new year.

Bryan Craig JANUARY

1. Eisenhower Decides to Run Presidential Politics and Cold War Strategy by William B. Pickett by William B. Pickett (no photo)
Finish date: January 5
Genre: Presidential history
Rating: B+
Review: This is a careful look on Ike's decision to run for president, and he debunks the idea that he was drafted to run for president.

Bryan Craig 2. The Deadlocked Election of 1800 Jefferson, Burr, and the Union in the Balance (American Presidential Elections) by James Roger Sharp by James Roger Sharp (no photo)
Finish date: January 20
Genre: Presidential history
Rating: B+
Review: This is a thoughtful look at the election of 1800. Sharp provides good analysis of why it came to happen that the House of Representatives had to break the Electoral vote tie.

3. Destiny of the Republic A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard by Candice Millard Candice Millard
Finish Date: March 15
Genre: Presidential History
Rating: A
Review: I really like this author's books. She did a great job, especially explaining Garfield's health after being shot, and the horrible condition of the White House. A couple minor errors, but overall, good book.

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) I thought that was a great book, Bryan. I'm not sure I have read that author before but will look for more of her work.

Alisa (mstaz) Similar theme, I recently picked up Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital and plan to get to it sometime this year. Hard to imagine the harrowing experience these people endured.
