Ned is really suspicious of everyone (as he should be!).
So heart trees are not always weirwoods, but the main/central tree in the wood?
I'm not exactly a fan of Littlefinger...

I think they should be weirwood trees? It's just that heart trees in the North usually have faces on them, but the ones in the South were grown after the children of the forest had (allegedly) died and so they don't have faces on them. As far as I've understood, the Old Gods are in the weirwood trees, so praying to a different kind of tree would be pointless.

That's kind of what I thought, but at one point Ned & the girls go to the godswood to pray in Kings Landing and it's an oak.

"The heart tree there was a great oak, its ancient limbs overgrown with smokeberry vines; they knelt before it to offer their thanksgiving, as if it had been a weirwood."

It's probably not even that important though. Just something confusing I noticed. lol
