One the first of each month, any books from the previous month which have not had any responses will be sent in a group message in case anyone who may be interested has missed them. The following month, any request threads from that month will be closed and moved to the archive.

Thanks so much.

Description:

When Zamaya Damina was born, his mother shockingly discovered that baby Zamaya has been circumcised. “It’s an omen,” she said. “It’s a sign of a great leader,” others said.

Zamaya grew up quickly with great expectations from his people. He was determined to become successful in life. And then one evening he meets Girly Johnson—a brassy and awkward girl. He tries to forget her but instead is swept up in a storm of emotions he cannot resist and comprehend. But soon, Zamaya realised that they were different in many ways that cannot be measured.

Disappointed and hurt, he moved on—until the day police constable Ann Duncan encountered him at the gateway to his apartment. They hugged. The touch was one of a kind. It sparked a sensual affair that changed their lives irrevocably. Unlike any woman Zamaya has known before, Ann tries to prove to him that her love is enough to accommodate and nurse his dreams.
But just when it seemed that they were fully settled as a family, Zam discovers that Ann Duncan is infected with a deadly viral disease.

Now Zam knows that loving Ann would not be easy, and that being together will pose health challenges that both of them would hardly survive. Zam somehow tries to stay.
But will being with Ann Duncan bring out or destroy the future that his people see?

Luca Ferrarini (luca_ferrarini) Hello,

any reviewer out there interested in reading and commenting on my very first novel (Sofia's Sycamore)? If so, please contact me by email (Ferrarini.L@gmail.com) or personal message on GR.
Sofia's Sycamore

Depending on your preferences, I can provide a free kindle version (gift) or just a digital PDF.

One reviewer of the Italian version has written (Amazon.it): Intense, deep and engaging. This book will bring you to the most distant lands that human mind can reach. An amazing journey that goes beyond time, towards those places of our soul where feelings fuse with hope. Extraordinarily written, I definitely encourage everyone to read this fantastic novel.

Title: Sofia's Sycamore

Synopsis:

After the accident, Sofia is no longer the same. Something inside her that was long asleep has awaken, screaming. A demand for help she will not be able to ignore. For too long she has been living alone, suffocated by the very defense she has meticulously erected. Now, something is changing. Maybe they are just consequences of the accident: the fainting, the awaking in unknown places without recalling how she has got there. And that cry that grows from inside.

Sofia will follow it throughout lands in which space and time are mere reflections of her own fears and thoughts. To guide her, a young girl with cold eyes, who will force her to question the meaning of her own existence. What if one day we manage to turn and look outside the cave we have been living in? What if we understand our reality was nothing but shadows? And what if the new world we finally see is not meant for us?

Sofia will have to get to the edges of what she remembers, for other memories to unfold. But on that fine line between light and darkness lurk her fears, and beyond that, creeping through the shadows, hide the ghosts she does not want to face ever again.

At the core of her journey, the sycamore stands high and majestic. Its roots dig deep into the earth, searching for water. Sofia will have to choose what to believe in: an already written destiny, without regrets, or a new life to face and live fully.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life is a concise 13,000 word spiritual self-help book.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life by Russell Anthony Gibbs

All enlightened beings, most founders of religions and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years and yet remain shrouded in mystery and misinterpretation. This book seeks to remove that shroud by explaining the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in a concise, accessible format. Each principle is defined, explained and supported by quotes from enlightened beings, philosophers, artists and scientists like Buddha, Albert Einstein, Rumi, Stephen Hawking and Jesus. To understand the six principles of enlightenment is to understand the meaning of life.

Author Russell Anthony Gibbs is a philosopher and spiritual seeker on a quest for enlightenment. In writing this book he has researched Bahaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sufism and Taoism. In addition to religion and philosophy, he has incorporated quantum mechanics, physics and psychology and studied the works of Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Stephen Hawking. Russell’s communication style has been described as “Espresso Wisdom,” consisting of short, strong, rich insight. As the first in a planned 8 book series, it has already amassed a positive following and reached #12 on the Amazon Hot New Releases for Spiritual Self-Help in its first 30 days.

“A wise, encouraging, and potentially life changing book that will fascinate and inform all those seeking spiritual truths and enlightenment.”

Dear Readers / Reviewers

Wanted to check whether anyone would be interested in reviewing my debut, multicultural novel, Love, Life, and Logic, published by Harvard Square Editions. It's due out in November 2016 in both paperback and Kindle versions.

Love, Life, and Logic by Uday Mukerji
Book Title: Love, Life, and Logic

About the book:
Set in Exotic India, Singapore, and in Central Europe, Love, Life, and Logic captures the individual struggle of a young man against the seemingly unnamed, unknown, anonymous power of the universe. In a shocking revelation of his innermost thoughts, the book depicts a painful account of his emotional turmoil arising out of his own confusions and dilemmas, and his personal developments through all that.

Rohan grows up in a middle class family in a small town in Goa, India. He asks himself many life questions like we all do every day. Is our life and death an end in itself, or do they have a much deeper implication in a gigantic universal process? Is each human life also someway connected to the chain of events unfolding every day in front of our eyes? We all have different thumbprints; but why? Are we all a part of big numbers game, or does each one of us really matter?

Chased by these and many such questions, Rohan leaves his lucrative job and his family in search of the truth. The journey gets complicated when he meets Adeline, a 23-year old vivacious girl in Vienna. Love, again? That brings him back to question his failed marriage. Is marriage an end of the road for love? Do all marriages come with an expiration date?

It’s the search and the road leading to his final realization that makes this book insightful and thought-provoking.

If you are interested, I can send you a copy of the eGalley (pdf) with my publisher's press release for more info.

I'd be glad to gift a copy of my tragicomedy, "By Vardo, Mostly" to those willing to review it~ I'm getting some great feedback already!

Cleveland’s got diversity and missionaries and sewage-surfing and bookstores and autistics: I’m one of them—Belle. Come have coffee with me and I’ll tell you about myself. Wait … I’m mute, so I can’t.

I’ve got a cat aptly named Queequeg, a Tourette’s-afflicted Myna bird named Epiphany, a mother who suffers from RBF (resting bitch face), a father who performs acrobatics on a ladder, and a beautiful sister who doesn’t, in fact, have chlamydia.

Don’t pity me, I won’t have it. Things could be worse: I’m neither a cutter nor a stabber nor a public masturbator, and I’m loved. Are you?

Beneath the awkward mask fate painted on me, I do have a voice. Try having complicated opinions whilst unable to communicate them—the awareness of great words you’ll never say aloud.

If you stop dwelling on masturbation, I’ll point out that despite the hassles I create for my loved ones, I deal with my autism more than anyone else.

Hear me?

Hi everyone! Looking for some reviews for my new book, Teaching College: The Ultimate Guide to Lecturing, Presenting, and Engaging Students.

If interested, I can send a PDF of the book. Email me at: norman.eng@me.com

Synopis:
Your students aren’t reading. They aren’t engaged in class. Getting them to talk is like pulling teeth. Whatever the situation, your reality is not meeting your expectations. Change is needed. But who’s got the time? Or maybe you’re just starting out, and you want to get it right the first time.

If so, Teaching College: The Ultimate Guide to Lecturing, Presenting, and Engaging Students is the blueprint. Written for early career instructors, this easy-to-implement guide teaches you to:

• Think like advertisers to understand your target audience—your students
• Adopt the active learning approach of the best K-12 teachers
• Write a syllabus that gets noticed and read
• Develop lessons that stimulate deep engagement
• Create slide presentations that students can digest
• Get students to do the readings, participate more, and care about your course

Secrets like “focusing on students, not content” and building a “customer” profile of the class will change the way you teach. The author, Dr. Norman Eng, argues that much of these approaches and techniques have been effectively used in marketing and K-12 education, two industries that could greatly improve how college instructors teach. Find out how to hack the world of college classrooms and have your course become the standard by which all other courses will be measured against. Whether you are an adjunct, a lecturer, an assistant professor, or even a graduate assistant, pedagogical success is within your grasp.

This is the second novel in the Sunset Reads series. Although it does mention the initial characters, it can be read as a standalone.

Book Excerpt:
He smiled wickedly and leaned in, bringing his face only inches away from hers. “What do you want to know, Miss Reece?”
Layla stared at those full, sensual lips, warmth spreading through her.
“Everything,” she replied breathlessly, her eyes widening when she realized she had spoken aloud.
He stared back at her parted lips while she spoke, and fought the urge to close the distance between them. After a brief moment, he smiled and leaned back. “I can tell you that I’m an only child. I can also tell you I grew up here in New York. In Brooklyn. Joined the military at eighteen.”
“How did you get recruited into the FBI?”
“I was a translator in the Special Ops unit. I graduated with two majors-”
“Two majors! Wow!” Her eyes showed genuine admiration.
“Don’t seem so surprised…” he teased.
“Oh…no…it’s just that, well you don’t really seem like…” she trailed off, not sure how to continue.
“Like a book worm?” He smiled.
“Well. Yes.” She played with her napkin nervously, her nerves catching up to her.
“And how do I seem, Miss Reece?”
Layla was briefly stumped by the question, but then pursed her lips in contemplation, mischief shining in her eyes.
“Rough around the edges,” she paused, taking in his demeanor, “definitely reserved…” Her eyes traveled along his strong jawline, making her way across his broad shoulders, and pausing slightly on the muscles of his chest before she brought her eyes back up to meet his. “Powerful,” she whispered.
He leaned in again. “Is that all?”
She smiled, a glint of amusement in her eyes. “Very Intelligent,” she finished, and took a sip of her drink, taking a quick glance at him beneath lowered lashes.
He stared at those green eyes. “You’re very observant, Miss Reece, and surprisingly rather bold.”
She smiled. “So I’ve been told.”
His eyes narrowed dangerously. “Have you also been told that you are very sexy, and that just by a glance from those emerald eyes you can make a man think deliciously, dark thoughts?” His voice was low and seductive.

Thank you,
D.C. Triana

All the stories are short, between 5,000 - 8,000 words. A few gothic, gas-light stories, some Lovecraftian mythos, some scary psycho hillbillies, monsters, things in the walls.

If you like Stephen King, Victorian Gothic, weird tales, Robert E. Howard, Harlan Ellison, you might enjoy my work. I hope. :)

It's free on Kindle Unlimited, but if you are serious about review, I could send you something. Thank you everyone!

Madelyn Morgan | 9 comments Hi all,
Hoping to find some readers who are ready for a laugh (at my expense).

Mad About Men: A Menmoir

In a light, quick, and entertaining read, new author Madelyn Morgan delivers an open, honest and sometimes shocking account of her life as a single mother who is looking for the right relationship. Her story is classic, but her perspective is totally unique, and her story is naughty, saucy and sexy, and funny.

MAD ABOUT MEN IS:

• A (mostly) true, laugh-out-loud account of a successful executive single mother’s search for love.
• “Racy, raw, sometimes vulgar, always hilarious,” according to a guy in Chapter 32 who actually read it.
• An account of dating and sex from a liberated, confident, unapologetic MILF in her 40s.
• A warmly relatable story, even though it sounds like a sordid, lustful tale of promiscuity (which it also is, the author admits).

MAD ABOUT MEN IS NOT:

• A self-help book about relationships.
• About a woman who finds herself after some extreme, soul-searching, incredible journey.
• A sticking-finger-in-throat sappy account of finding true love and living happily ever after.
• Only for women to read.

Madelyn gains a new perspective on relationships after a series of major losses (some devastating, some not so much). Root for her as she entertains each potential suitor and laugh with her (or at her) as she tries to make sense of what she wants, what men want, and what to do next. Whether or not you’ve ever swiped right, Match’ed, or flirted with the flight attendant, you’ll relate to Madelyn’s search for love and (hot) sex—not necessarily in that order. Go ahead and judge her, she won’t mind.

Sara Hansen | 7 comments Hi there,
I'm a new author and my book has just come out: Learn to love stress. Learn to Love Stress: Turn stress into motivation, mental energy, emotional resilience, and happiness

I would love feedback on my writing and some reviews for GR and Amazon, if possible and can provide a free copy in pdf if you 'friend me' or PM me on GR.

In essence, the book is about an alternative view of stress supported by and linked to recent research; how to incorporate new mindset into your life and therefore increase motivation, emotional resilience and happiness.

Please let me know if you're interested in having a read or even a review swap. (I read most genres but avoid too dark topics such as child abuse etc.)

Thanks very much. Sara

Larry Garner (larryanimalgarner) | 2 comments Hi there, Avid Readers!
I am the author of two novels (so far) in a series of action/thriller novels called the "Hammer" series.

Both are available in any ebook format on Smashwords.com

I would love to hear your reviews and/or opinions about these books. There is explicit language, violence, and sexual situations, along with memorable characters and lots of snarky humor.

Both books for the protagonist in his war against those who make and sell methamphetamine and abuse young women while doing so. He finds people of similar attitudes who join in to remove the people who enslave their neighbors and friends from their community.

I would also be interested in reviewing books as I can around other commitments.

Hi Kathy,

I had a look at your excerpt on Amazon - you have serious formatting issues, with variable indents - some almost half the width of the page. Go and check if you don't believe me!

Regardless of the quality of the writing, it will make reading the book difficult, and folks 'checking you out' will only see the formatting, and assume the writing is as bad (which is annoying but true).

If you're working from WORD, and have a little knowledge of using WORD to save to different file types (or can find someone who knows how to do it), I can send you a basic 'crib' sheet for how to get from a well-formatted WORD document to an EBook format and produce a 'standard reader experience' layout.

Follow the links from my goodreads page to amazon and check one of my books to see the result I can get.

I'm not touting for work or expecting payment, just spreading the word it's not that hard to achieve. PM me and I'll send you a text file with the details. I'd post it here, but the page changes any html to its display result and hides the actual code.

Cheers, Alistair

A.R. Simmons (arsimmons) | 15 comments A new mystery/suspense novel DEVIL'S RUN.
Seeking reviews
(available in all eBook formats)

Since it's a mystery we'll supply a blurb rather than a synopsis:

Fireballs in the night, and multiple victims of what appears to be a mob hit? In a sleepy Ozark town like Blue Creek? Rural deputy Richard Carter has seen his share of mayhem, but nothing like this. As he, his cynical partner Ron Guidry, and new deputy Cicely “Kit” Kittredge dig into what at first appears to be insurance fraud, they uncover something “unholy” near a small creek called Devil’s Run. While they search for a motive, sadistic murder burns its way through Hawthorn County, eliminating their suspects.

Devil’s Run is a stand-alone Mystery and Thriller (#12) in the Richard Carter series. (June, 2017)

Interviewing For Her Lover Six Nights Of Sin Series (Book 1) A La Petite Morte Club Series by Ellis O. Day

You can get a free copy from Amazon

http://myBook.to/SixNSin_Book1

Sarah wants a lover, but she wants one on her terms. She doesn’t have time to date and picking a guy up at a bar is not only dangerous but it doesn’t guarantee he’ll let her act out her fantasies. When she hears about La Petite Morte Club—a place for willing males and females to meet with rules and contracts so that all parties leave satisfied—she knows it’ll be perfect.

She signs up with the club and starts the process of finding the man who’ll be her lover for six nights. Six nights of fantasy—his and hers. Six nights of sex and then they’re done. Simple, uncomplicated and fun, but she doesn’t count on Nick’s ability to make her desire everything he has to offer and more.

If you like the book, please contact me because I could use some reviews for the rest of the books in the series too.

What Could’ve Been ‘Us’ In Another Time & Place
The What If? Series
Book One
By: Cassandra Magnussen
Genre- Contemporary/Erotic Romance
***Please note this is book one in a interconnected series. Each book a standalone***
******WARNING- this book DOES have flashbacks and discuss different kinds of abuse and be a trigger******

Synopsis:
Sometimes you meet people who you would never expect to feel emotions for. Sometimes it starts off as a platonic relationship, then before you know it, a thunderbolt hits and a connection sparks from a dark place bringing you closer to the other person.

Sometimes this person changes everything you thought you knew; they make you feel things you never thought you could or deserved to feel. Sometimes this person comes in and flips your entire world upside down.

Then again, sometimes people are too stubborn to admit their feelings and eventually admit them when it’s too late.

However, once in a while, you have to accept that maybe there is a reason why you can’t get this person out of your head regardless of how long it’s been since you’ve seen them because, maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

What would happen if you got a second chance with the person who stayed in your heart for years?

Do you store away your feelings thinking there’s no point, or do you take a chance and risk it all because?

Maybe it’s not too late.

This is Aurora and Nicholas’s story.

Angelina Kalahari (angelinakalahari) | 3 comments I'm not very savvy on Goodreads so not entirely sure that this is the correct place to post asking for reviews - if not, please let me know?

Hello everyone,
My name is Angelina. I'd love reviews for my new contemporary romance, Under A Namibian Sky. It will be available on 10 August on Amazon. For an ARC, please contact me on angelinasbooks@hotmail.com. Many thanks in advance.

The blurb:
Beautiful, vivacious, independent young Naomi grew up on the edge of the Namib Desert. After she becomes a safari guide, nothing is more exciting than showing off her desert's fierceness, its raw beauty, and its exotic wildlife to guests staying at Desert Lodge.

Luca, the heir apparent to the Armati supercar dynasty, is blessed with the beauty of an Italian god and born to a life of wealth, power, and influence. In Namibia for a short holiday, he wants to fulfil his dream of photographing and painting African elephants.

Used to the wiles of such spoiled princelings, Naomi is suspicious of his motives. Begrudgingly, she feels drawn to his kindness, charm and aura. Impossibly, it appears he is equally drawn to the girl from the African desert.

But will the pain of their past experiences prevent them from being courageous enough to admit their soul mate connection? Will their love overcome the challenges they face when Luca ends up in hospital after a dangerous anti-poacher raid, and Naomi has to confront her fears about falling in love with him?

Compulsively readable, Under A Namibian Sky is an emotionally riveting romance that will enchant, fascinate and delight.

Loree Couture (kennalynne) | 5 comments Hi Everyone,
I am looking for reviewers for my contemporary romance novella. It is set in Western Canada, and is a sweet romance with some sensual scenes, but no explicit or graphic sex.
What happens when the consequences of a one night stand are disclosed six years later? After a humiliating rejection, nineteen year old Maren Dennison makes the decision to keep her child's paternity a secret.

When commitment phobic Luke Tahson discovers he has a son, he enters a phase of young adulthood that both surprises and rewards him. His love for his child, Ryder, and growing feelings for Maren change him in unexpected ways. However, his road to redemption is riddled with too much pain and misunderstanding.

Will Maren learn to trust Luke enough to forgive him and move on from the past? Or, more importantly, will she be able to forgive herself?
I plead with her to understand, “I am sorry that I put you through so much pain, but I can’t go back and change a thing. The worst part is that I am telling you that I wouldn’t want to change it. I see how strong and selfless you’ve had to be these past seven years. How my behavior caused you to suffer, to doubt yourself, to guard your heart. But I have fallen in love with the woman you are now.”

The blurb:
How do you keep your family from tearing apart?

The first fifteen years of Jean Rayson’s life had passed as ordinary as it gets. She had her issues with her parents, fought her brothers every now and then, and at the end of the day, her biggest concerns were fashion magazines and the junior boys in school.

But shortly after the summer breaks ends, Jean’s younger brother dies. At first it seems everyone’s managed to hold it together, but when the first crack appears and her parents begin to fall apart, Jean takes on the responsibility of preventing herself, and hopefully her brothers, to follow.

What do you tell yourself in order to get out of bed every morning?

Mathew Rayson has always envied his little sister for her innocence. Seen as the strange bird of the family, Matt has developed a tendency to keep his distance. His mother wasn’t as easy a person—let alone parent—as his father’s second wife, and the contrast between the two homes took its toll on his personality, denying him of becoming a part of the family.

But when his younger brother dies, Mathew starts to see his family in a different light. The shatter of their happiness tilts his previous attitude, and as a strange empathy rises in him, he decides to go out of his way and help them pull through the crisis.

What do you tell your eight-year-old brother?

Thank you and have a wonderful day!
