Time Travel discussion

We have already read FORTY, COUNTING DOWN from this author, which features the same characters. The author has refused to disclose which story he wrote first. They were both published in an anthology in 2002.

Reading this now, in spite of the fact that I read the companion already, rang no bells with me. I had to look up stuff about the other story to try to refresh my memory. However I had the same reaction about name dropping 90s culture, that it seemed too obvious to place us in time, but I was surprised to see this was actually written in the 90s. It makes sense though since some of the future predictions are wrong, like the Rolling Stones still touring and South Park being long gone.

I just finished this one. Got annoyed with it. I think it would have been better if (view spoiler)[the guy goes back in time and just coaches his younger self (like in one of those Shakespeare comedies) instead of taking over his life.(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]
