I woke up at 3 am couldn't go back to sleep , tossed and turned for a couple of hours and then decided to start this one, I read half a page and fell asleep :D

I just finished it! So far I think I liked it the most. Sam is toned down a bit, so her attitude seemed more natural to me. She has also grown in her relationship with Nick, though now Nick is holding back on her. Uh oh!

(view spoiler)[I'm not at all into anal play in sex scenes, so am not thrilled it's been introduced into this story. Plus, if you stick your finger up someone's butt, wouldn't you want to wash your hands ASAP? Eew! (hide spoiler)]

The murder investigation itself sure does bring out some sordid stories. Wow. What messy lives a number of characters have.

We get to see Sam more in the good friend and sister (and now mom) light in this book, instead of the pushy cop and daddy's favorite of other books. I liked it as it made her more mature and well-rounded. I'm eager to learn what the rest of you think ;-)

How are people liking this one so far? Do you agree that Sam is a bit toned down?

I finished it this morning . I gave it 4 stars .i agree Lara , this was one of the best in the series.
Sam didn't get on my nerves even once. The investigation was good. The best part was Stahl getting what he deserved.

She had calmed down in this book which makes it better, I love the private moments. Scott is adorable. I'm half way through it.

Scotty is really awesome. I'm glad he has a little dust-up in this book to show that he isn't perfect charisma boy.

Finished! Sam still has the edge to her, which I love. Scotty is the perfect addition to the Cappuano family. So glad that Stahl finally got what he deserved. What about Hill and Shelby? I can't see them together.... What is Nick going to decide about (view spoiler)[VP (hide spoiler)]? If Sam finds out will she push him towards a nay or yay?? I say yes!!

I really enjoyed Scotty's part in this book too.

Heh, so do I. Especially since I've peeked at the blurbs for the future books. Of course, I don't see any realistic way Sam could continue in her job under those circumstances.

Well, maybe Sam will be the new Captain so she mainly have a desk job and hold press conferences, lol!

Exactly! There's no way I could suspend disbelief to have her chasing criminals down back alleys with a detail on her. Plus, the public scrutiny would be too much.

I agree. She's going to have to curtail some activity if Nick becomes VP, and....if she becomes preggers, lol!
