Greetings:
My I'm Kimberly-Ann (aka Auntie Nanuuq):
I began with Shelfari in February 2009 after perusing all the other online book groups; Goodreads, Librarything & whatever-else there was. Shelfari was by far the most visually appealing (♥ the bookshelf), the easiest to use/navigate, and I ♥'d the people.
I worked in the Library from 1974-2014, I began as a "Page" (shelver) and worked up to Librarian (MLIS 2007), I also dabbled in art both 2-D & 3-D.
Photography has always been my passion, and I now work part-time as an exhibiting photographer in San Gabriel Valley & Ventura, CA
I have three cats: Aristophane (bud), Graciela (Grace/Gracie) & Zeinab and I love to take road trips.......
Oh, I'm sure you already know this, I ♥♥♥ to READ, and I normally read between 100 - 150 books a year, although since I left the Library I have slipped down to 91!

Hi, everyone ... Tessa here (a/k/a Book Concierge). I was also in the Shelfari group.
I've been a member of Goodreads since about 2008, but only started getting involved in groups in about 2013. However, I have maintained my bookshelf here in parallel with my Shelfari shelf, so (fortunately for me) I don't have to do any import.
Book Chat was the very first group I joined on Shelfari and I've come to look at the members as friends/ family. More than just sharing our books, they've cheered me on in my successes, and consoled me in the tough times. When my father died, they sent me a lovely card. Looking forward to continued participation here.

I am a recently retired librarian having worked in the same public library for 44.5 years. I started as the tiny (3500 sq ft) library's director with one assistant while still working toward my MLS degree. By the time I retired we had grown to almost 25,000 square feet in a new building with a staff of 19.
My reading interests are broad as you can see from my shelves. I have been on GR since 2009. I tend to read 75 to 100 books a year and try to review/ comment on almost all titles read. I own a large collection of books on historic costume and versions of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale which I am still in-putting. As to the many books I read prior to keeping a reading journal (<2002), unless I have a vivid memory of the books I prefer not to list them on GR until I have reread which probably won't happen soon.
Since retiring last May I have become a book pack rat amassing shelves full of books from library sales, Salvation Army , Savers, etc., the bulk of which I have no hope of ever getting to unless I live into my hundreds. I do enjoy arranging and handling them- makes me feel like Silas Marner with his hoard of gold (Mine! All mine!)

I'm a homeschooling mom to 4. I read the most when my kids were babies. And has they have gotten a little older and busier, my reading had slowed down a bit. In the last year, my reading has picked up again. I hope to be able to keep it up.

Good to see you here :) !

Good to see you here. I homeschooled for 11 years.
Welcome everyone!
Now that I have manually most all of my Shelfari reviews to GR, I'll be here more often.
BTW: did our reviews migrate to LeafMarks & Library Thing, or do we need to do that manually as well?

Do you have the csv files on your computer? They transfer well to Leafmarks and LibraryThing, but you have to do it from their sites, I think.

I transferred them all..... I just hadn't seen the reviews.
I did, however, get my GR bookshelf transferred to my blogs!

I sing at church and at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. My favorite genres lately are cozy mysteries and other light reads...too much heavy reading a work so I relax with lighter stuff. I look forward to reconnecting with this group!

If they don't I'll be even more cranky than when they announced it...
Because that means i wasted all my time manually updating my GR shelf!

If you are on Shelfari and click on the "pink banner of death" learn more link ... it now says the merge date is May 31.
I think they had so many complaints about the poor transfer of data that they had to extend the deadline.

I live in Michigan with my husband, two kids and dog. I usually read 80-90 books a year, I belong to two book clubs, and work in a high school library. My favorite thing is a book on the beach! Great job I have- reading, and summers off! :^)

Hi Tessa. I am laughing because I just saw this post, and I never knew your name other than Book Concierge from Shelfari. So funny that I have always loved your reviews, but never connected with you as a person. Hope to chat with you & everyone else in the group. I try to stay with smaller groups because I do like to get to know the people behind the reviews.

Hi Becky. I noticed that you and Allison are also from Michigan, but I am on the other side of the state from you in Rochester.

Jenn. I am blown away by the fact that you home school your 4 children and have time to read. You are incredible! Wow!

I'm Hope and am finally getting around to Goodreads. I was on Shelfari since 2009, then went to Leafmarks, and then to LibraryThing. I'm still on LT - just wanted to get my Goodreads account up and running, too. This was my favorite group on Shelfari.
I am a school library media specialist / teacher-librarian in a middle school (also have taught English and math during my lengthy career.) My husband and I live on an acreage in east central Iowa. We have four dogs, three cats, two small parrots, two goats and some ancient chickens. My daughter is taking the scenic route through college. My son works construction and my daughter-in-law works for an insurance processing company. They are expecting our first grandchild this fall and I've already started on the little one's library!
I usually read 60-80 books each year - mostly a mix of mystery, romance, literary fiction and historical fiction.

Just joined the group and I am looking forward to some great conversation and discussions on our future reads.
My name is David and I try to read as much as possible. I have been looking for a group that is a little smaller member wise and focuses more on the books that all the challenges that are out there. Seems like a lot of people just want to finish some sort of goal and not really discuss/talk about what they have read.
I live in Michigan and I am usually reading and or listening to 2 to 3 books at a time. I play DnD on a regular basis and have a great time incorporating what I have read into the actions of what my characters can do. Fight scene descriptions and antics of my favorite books characters unfolding in another world.
I will read just about anything but I have lately been stuck in the Mystery/Suspense/Thriller books. I used to be a complete Fantasy junkie and R. A. Salvatore was my favorite author. Now Harlan Coben has taken the lead spot on my author list.
My wife laughs at me because I collect books. Book collections in my opinion are a lost hobby. I am pretty much a stickler of reading a series of books in order regardless if they can be taken out of sequence. If I get to a point in a series and I don't own the book that is next in line I will wait to continue on the series until I can purchase a copy of the book. I go to a lot of used book stores and book fairs to see what I can find as hidden treasures.
That seems like enough for now. So if you would like to know anything else feel free to ask. In a sense I am an open book.

Please Take the time to introduce yourself here and tell us a bit about yourself!
