Bibliophiles of Loathing discussion

To break this thread in, I'd like to suggest we read Foundation by Isaac Asimov. He is one of the "big" Sci-Fi writers and this is one of his more popular works. I've never read him but I've always been meaning to. I seem to stick more to fantasy but have wanted to expose myself more to classic science fiction. It's the beginning of a trilogy (that was later expanded past a trilogy) but my understanding is that it stands on it's own.
