-Tyrion and some other lords and knights went to receive Doran Martell. Tyrion thinks Joffrey should be there, but Tywin didn’t send him because he learned a few jokes about the Dornishmen from Tyrell’s men at arms, and it wouldn’t be a nice welcome if he started saying them. I think he would have ruined it somehow, so it’s good he wasn’t there. I don’t think he cared much either.
-Bronn could see nine banners, and Tyrion call Pods, who he made study the banners and asks him to name the houses. He named all, which is pretty good! And wtf with Blackmont’s banner being a vulture grasping a baby with its claws? Anyway, I really like how even though Tyrion knew the banners, he told Pod he didn’t, so the boy feels prouder of himself. It was a really nice thing to do. Tyrion knew those were nine of the greatest lords of Dorne, and there was a message there he didn’t like. Pod points out he doesn’t see a litter, and Doran always travels in one because he is over 50 and sick. He noticed before Tyrion did!
-One of the reasons I loved A Feast for Crows was because of the Martells. I still have mixed feelings, but they are probably my favorite family. They are so interesting to me! Anyway, there are three types of Dornishmen, depending on where they lived and how they looked. There were salty who lived in the coast, sandy who lived in the desert and stony who lived in the mountains. The stony had blood of the First Men, which I forgot. They had different horses as well, smaller and who couldn’t carry a lot of weight, but could ride for a long time. Every single thing about them is interesting for me!
-Tyrion knows now Doran Martell didn’t go, but his brother Prince Oberyn Martell did. He was about ten years younger, a stony from the way he looked and Tyrion could tell he was fierce. When the Prince presents the lords, I found it really interesting he brought a bastard and his own paramour Ellaria. Maybe they did it to provoke, but I think they are more liberal than the people of Westeros in general. Cersei will freak out, she can’t sit her next to Oberyn but he’ll be offended if she’s not with him, lol. Oberyn was called the Red Viper, it was said he poisoned a man he fought for over a woman. He is quite an interesting man, he travelled and learnt in the Free Cities, he studied in the Citadel and got six links, rode with the Second Sons and was said he bedded women and men both. He also had a lot of bastard girls, the ones in Dorne called the Sand Snakes. Interesting he never had a boy.
-Oberyn was the man who crippled Willas, so Tyrion knew the Tyrells, mainly Mace, would freak out. The Rev Viper mentions he knew Tyrion before, when he was a baby and he and part of his family visited Casterly Rock. It was said Tywin ruled Westeros, and Joanna, his wife, ruled him. I find it really interesting it was said he wasn’t the same after she died, which makes me think he maybe was kinder. I don’t think he was an angel, but maybe he wasn’t as cruel as know. It was said Tyrion was a punishment to show Tywin he wasn’t better than any men. Also, the tales about Tyrion, omg! A fucking tail? Who the hell started that rumor? Lol at Oberyn saying he would rather die with a breast in his hand than with a sword. I like him.
-Cersei and Jaime showed Oberyn and Ellia where Tyrion was, and Oberyn was disappointed he wasn’t a monster, lol. Cersei, who was apparently already a bitch by the age of 9, sent the nurse away, saying Tyrion was hers. Interesting. Ellia wanted to nurse him, she seems quite sweet. On the other hand, Cersei said Tyrion killed their mother, and twisted his cock, wtf? He was just a baby and it wasn’t his fault! Jaime told her to stop, so she did. Oberyn noted that. Cersei also said he wouldn’t live long, well, he didn’t die like she thought. Tyrion wonders why Oberyn told him the story, and I wonder too.
-So, to pay for Joffrey’s weeding Tywin had the idea of putting taxes on whores. People had to pay a penny, and it was called the dwarf’s penny. Of course people blamed Tyrion. Although is not such a bad idea to raise gold. Apparently Oberyn and Ellaria are not conventional at all, he says Ellaria would be interesting in a blond woman. I like he is so open about it.
-Oberyn then says he is there for justice. I forgot Jon Arryn was questioned a year later, as other hundred men. Oberyn wanted to start with Gregor, and question who gave the order. It made me think he implied Tywin did it, but anyway he doesn’t have proof.
-He said his brother Doran wasn’t bloodthirsty but he was, and Tyrion had now to deal with him. But Tyrion told him he had 300 men, while they had, counting the Tyrells, maybe 100000. Oberyn said Willas sent him a letter now long ago, they were both interested in horseflesh. He told Tyrion Willas didn’t hate him or was resentful, after all it was nobody’s fault but Mace. Oberyn thinks Willas was too young to joust but his father sent him anywhere. The Red Viper thinks Mace wanted a new Leo Longthorn, whoever he was it seems he was great and young. Tyrion says maybe Loras was the new Leo, but Oberyn asked who he slain in the battle, not who he threw off their horse. Actually he killed those two men in the tent because he went crazy, and they were surprised as well. I’m not saying he is not great, but it’s not like he proved much either. Finally, Tyrion tells him to go to Chataya’s and keep two girls close, if he wanted to die with a breast in his hand. Oberyn was talking more than he should and implying a lot of things, and the Lannisters had the Tyrells on their side, and that was Tyrion’s way to make sure he understood in my opinion.
